10 QUESTIONS WITH...
10 QUESTIONS WITH... JULIA JANOSA
Each issue we ask an industry professional the Tomorrow’s Tile & Stone 10 Questions. This time, we chatted to Julia Janosa, Senior Interior Designer from Temza.
Q4 Q5
IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT, WHAT CAR
WOULD YOU BUY? I wouldn’t because there’s not much point to having a car in central London. I would level my bike up a notch!
IF YOU COULD INVENT ONE
PRODUCT TO MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER, WHAT WOULD
IT BE? That would be a coffee cup that never runs out.
Q6 Q1
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
I first worked as a part-time journalist and photojournalist at a local newspaper. It was the coolest part-time job any student could wish for.
Q2 Q3 — 30 —
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE
TILING INDUSTRY? I’d say by chance because you don’t know what to expect from any industry before you start to work in it. I’m fortunate to find as much joy and satisfaction in design and construction as I do.
WHO, IN ANY OTHER INDUSTRY,
DO YOU MOST ADMIRE? Rossana Orlandi, her personality is so intriguing and captivating, and her gallery in Milano is out of this world.
Q7
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN
YOU WERE GROWING UP? I didn’t have a clear idea, and I think it’s pretty hard to understand at a young age how different sectors and industries might work. Considering it’s the single most life-defining decision you need to make, it would be great if the topic would be dealt with in greater detail in schools and information more readily available.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO UNWIND?
Take Joy, Temza’s office vizsla out for a long walk. She’s most adorable
and also a great designer! You can follow her adventures on Instagram @joythevizsla if you’d like to unwind.
Q10
KEVIN GRANT, ASSOCIATE
CONTRACT SALES DIRECTOR FROM DESIGNWORKS
TILES, ASKED: Do you think there is sufficient formal training for people coming into our industry, not just on the fixing side but in sales and specification?
I think, even though it’s essential, you can only learn so much technical information in an industry that is so trends-led. You need to keep on top of new products, developments, and tastes, so perhaps, after all, it’s best to learn on the job?

IF YOU COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY
WITH ANY THREE GUESTS, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO
WOULD THEY BE AND WHY? Zaha Hadid, Peter Cook of Archigram and Marcel Wanders for a beautiful little architecture and interiors round table. I’m just not quite sure what would I cook for them!
Q9
IF YOU COULD VISIT ANY PLACE IN THE
WORLD, WHERE WOULD
YOU GO AND WHY? I’d go to the moon, because why not? It must be one life-changing experience.
