ADHESIVES & GROUTS
GROUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE
We take a closer look at BAL’s portfolio of rapid-setting adhesives and grouts to help you choose the best solution to get the job done as quickly and effectively as possible.
In the cold weather, standard-setting cementitious adhesives can take a longer time to set, meaning you spend longer waiting to grout and, consequently, to complete your project. To counteract this, the use of a rapid-setting adhesive is advised. However, a number of rapid-setting adhesives go bad too quickly, making fixing extremely difficult.
If the product sets too quickly in the bucket (pot life) or on the wall (working time), then jobs can be hard to complete in a single mix. This can result in tiles not adhering properly or wasting mixes.
BAL has a portfolio of high-performance rapid-setting adhesives, which combine extended open and working times with fast setting times; meaning less mixing and more fixing.
BAL Rapid-Flex One BAL Rapid-Flex One is a high-performance S1 tile adhesive that provides fixers with superior qualities to get the job done on time and on budget.
BAL Rapid-Flex One gives fixers an extended 30 minutes open time and 60 minutes working time, but it is still ready to grout in only three hours; offering both speed and control.
The adhesive is formulated with Fibre Strand Technology (FST), which provides for enhanced performance, a super smooth consistency and easier and faster spreading.
Rapid-Flex One is available in one white colour – rather than a grey and a white. Replacing BAL’s stable of rapid-setting adhesives with just one white adhesive could be seen as a bold move – but BAL Rapid-Flex One ticks all the boxes as an all-in-one rapid-setting adhesive that gives fixers and contractors everything they need for perfect tiling at the great value cost of a standard grey flexible adhesive.
BAL Pourable One Alongside Rapid-Flex One, BAL also launched BAL Pourable One – an advanced pourable solution for floor tiling installations.
Suitable for internal or external use, it is perfect for large- format and natural stone tiles and can be grouted in only three hours for fast track installations.
Highly flexible, it can be used with underfloor or undertile heating and at 25mm bed depth in one application – ideal for patch repair and uncalibrated stone.

BAL Pourable One is also only available in white at the price of a grey, meaning it can be used for any installation including with marble or other translucent natural stone products.
BAL Micromax2 Developed as a result of extensive R&D carried out in collaboration with tilers nationwide, BAL Micromax2 offers a combination of previously unseen properties to make it ideal for virtually any wall or floor installation.
Its versatility removes the
need for different grouts within a single installation, as BAL Micromax2 suits both the floors and the walls. Its superfine formulation, giving a finish of striking smoothness, enables use with gaps as narrow as 1 mm. Its strength and flexibility, however, allows grouting of gaps as wide as 20 mm, with no slumping, shrinking or cracking.
As for tile types and backgrounds, BAL Micromax2 suits any type of tile, including porcelain and natural stone, on any type of background. It is ideal for dry and wet areas, indoors and outdoors, and can even be used with underfloor heating systems and for plywood overlay floors.
A rapid-setting grout, it sets in only three hours, perfect for fast-track installations. Despite its rapid-setting qualities, it has an unusually long 30-minute working time, which enables larger areas to be grouted in a single mix.
Its technologically-enhanced formulation ensures enduring good looks and a consistent colour with no efflorescence - where salt can deposit on the surface from creating an unsightly coating which can cause the grout to stain.
With BAL Micromax2, there is no patchiness or shading, even across the largest areas. What’s more, the incorporation of Microban anti-Microbial protection inhibits the growth of black mould and harmful bacteria such as
E.coli, Salmonella and Listeria.
This makes it ideal for applications in bathrooms and kitchens where significant levels of moisture are likely to be commonplace, and where it’s especially important to protect against harmful bacteria where food may be prepared and consumed.
