Flair Rugs Launches V&A- Collaboration Collection

Rug specialist Flair Rugs is launching its debut AW17 collection inspired by the Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum, the world-renowned museum of art, design and performance.

Drawing from the V&A archive, each style is inspired by a work of influential and acclaimed figures including William Morris, Owen Jones and F. Gregory Brown; charting key periods of design such as Art Deco and the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Crafted from wool and viscose, or silk-soft chenille, these rugs celebrate designs that have inspired generations of people in Flair’s exquisite rug craft. Whether hand-tufted and finished by skilled artisans or expertly woven on jacquard looms, each rug is finished to the highest standard.

Flair’s design team have worked closely with the V&A to develop the new collection and have gained unique access to the world’s most celebrated archives of pattern and design. The V&A is home to 2.3 million objects, spanning over 5,000 years of human creativity from many parts of the world. The Museum welcomes over 3

The features continue for this bleach- cleanable style in four and five-metre widths, a 10-year stain warranty and 15- year wear warranty. Colours range from contemporary greys to warm neutrals, underlining this collection’s wide appeal.

“As the first style in our Touchdown Premium collection, Fairfield Heaven sees focus on bringing homeowners exclusive carpets that offer luxury without the price-tag.

million visitors annually to its South Kensington site in London.

Speaking about the collection, Lauren Sizeland, Head of Business Development & Licensing at the V&A, commented: “We are delighted to be working with this long established, family-run business, producing rugs with a strong focus on craftsmanship. We have a shared passion for creating beautiful products and very much hope this will prove to be a long and successful license.”

Launching in four styles with Jazz, Fanfare, Rhapsody and Honeysuckle, the V&A range features in the new Luxmi collection of premium styles available from the UK’s largest supplier of rugs.

Gareth Davies, Sales and Marketing Director at Flair Rugs, explained: “The V&A is a wonderful resource for creativity, so we’re delighted to launch our first licensed collection with the museum.

“This collaboration represents an excellent opportunity for flooring and home interior retailers to welcome the V&A into their store with a range of rugs inspired by great designers and artists, each with an appealing story to tell. These styles are just the first of

many that will be produced through our license with the Museum.

“It has been a hugely rewarding experience for our team to explore such incredible works, interpreting them into beautiful rugs made for today’s modern home and we’re confident that homeowners will love the collection as much as we do.”

The V&A-inspired rug collection will be officially unveiled at London’s Top Drawer home and gift show this September and it will also form a major part of Flair Rugs display at The Flooring Show later in the month.

“We’re seeing more people want the easy living of stain-resistant polypropylene, but they’re also prepared to invest a little more for a luxurious feel. The launch of Touchdown Premium is our response to this, so that our retailers can be armed with an answer in some of our most popular and enduring styles,” Gary continued.
