WELCOME TO THE

TOMORROW’S HEALTH & SAFETY YEARBOOK 2017/18

Well, it’s Yearbook season again; time is certainly flying by, it only seems like five minutes since we were introducing the 2016 publication in London. In the last twelve months there have been some significant and notable changes within the Tomorrow’s Health & Safety team as much as in the wider world.

I have made a foray into the realm of Health & Safety, bringing with me three years’ experience in trade publishing and a comprehensive knowledge of the industry, so I’m looking forward to getting to know you all better over the coming months; I hope that we can all teach each other something.

Not long after our last edition we received the results of the Brexit vote, which left things somewhat turbulent across the industry. Following the election of the first female Prime Minister since Thatcher, the nature of our transition from ‘in’ to ‘out’ of the EU still seems unclear. And with a general election fresh in our minds, we once again face challenging times.

However, not all change is bad, and my experience of the Health & Safety industry thus far, is that it is not to be defeated; if anything, trying times bring about an even greater need to protect and safeguard people in their workplaces. If recent events have taught us anything, it’s that people deserve to feel safe wherever they go, not least in their places of work. Safety is paramount, as is determination – to power through and keep things running as smoothly as possible in the face of adversity.

So whilst the outlook for our country is not yet clear, the expectations for our industry are; we will do our best to keep people safe and healthy, we will not be deterred.
