Hello and welcome to the September/October issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.
Back with a new look under the name Anticipate London, the UK's largest health and safety event is returning to ExCeL. Formerly known as the Safety and Health Expo, the new branding is set to help the exhibition "rise above the ordinary to provide a platform focused on smarter properties, safer occupants and integrated systems.” Along with our sister publication, Tomorrow’s FM, we will be exhibiting at the show from 2nd- 4th December. We have preview of the event in this issue, which should provide all the essential information you’ll need, including how to get your hands on a free pass for the week and also some details on exactly what the show has in store. You can check it out on page 24.

In this issue, mental health goes under the spotlight. According to NEBOSH, mental health problems cost the UK economy and estimated £118bn annually, with stress and other mental health issues being the biggest cause of absence from work. So, how can organisations support the mental health and wellbeing of their employees? Who better to offer advice on this area than The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), who lead the feature section with some advice for employers who want to put wellbeing of their empoyees at the heart of their organisation.
Elsewhere, we take a look at Emergency Evacuations, with Belfor analysing how businesses can go from catastrophe to being in operation again, whilst Guy Osmond, Managing Director and Founder of Osmond Ergonomics, explores the responsibilities of employers in safeguarding homeworkers from the risk of musculoskeletal conditions in our Human Factors & Ergonomics feature.
