AVDANZER ACHIEVES TOP SAFETY ACCREDITATION
Nottingham-based company, AVDanzer, which hires site accommodation units to many of the UK’s leading construction companies, has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
Alcumus SafeContractor is a third-party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.
AVDanzer’s Health and Safety Advisor, Gary Duckworth said: “SafeContractor accreditation provides us with a uniform standard across the business and is a clear statement of our commitment to achieve the highest possible standards of care. We have invested heavily through recruitment and training to ensure our health and safety standards are second to none and this is a further acknowledgement that we take our responsibility in this area extremely seriously.”
Having already achieved CHAS and Constructionline accreditation, the company is now also implementing ISO 9001 & 14001 across its business to ensure that it meets both the needs of its customers in terms of quality, as well as meeting all regulatory requirements whilst minimising any impact on the environment.
Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus SafeContractor said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place. SafeContractor plays a vital role in helping our clients to meet their compliance needs and secure contracts for work.”

SPECIALIST PPE FIRMS PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR SPEED RECORD ATTEMPT
Two Hull-based companies, ProGARM and FlamePro, have teamed up to provide flame-retardant personal protective clothing (PPE) to the team behind the Bloodhound supersonic car, which is working to break the 800mph land speed record attempt in South Africa.
The family-owned businesses have kitted out the team of engineers with a full range of protective clothing, including FlamePro’s 603 Wildland Jacket and ProGARM’s best-selling 6100 Arc Coverall, which is designed to protect workers from the dangers of an Arc Flash – a type of electrical explosion which can reach temperatures up to four times hotter than the surface of the sun.
Bloodhound is currently in Northern Cape for high- speed trials as it works towards an assault on the land speed record in 2020. The existing 763mph land speed

record was set 22 years ago by Andy Green, who is also the pilot of Bloodhound.
With a EuroFighter jet engine onboard, the supersonic car is expected to reach 600mph this year, while the addition of a rocket motor in 2020 should help to eventually push Bloodhound over 800mph.
Mark Lant, Technical Expert at ProGARM, said: “It goes without saying that we’re absolutely thrilled to be a part of this project. This world record attempt is surely one that will go down in history, and we’re delighted to be able to play a part in this and help to make it a success story.”
