In this issue, we look at the practical steps organisations can take to strengthen their safety culture. Peter Ashcroft, Founder of Sygma Solutions, examines whether the training an operative receives would stand up to legal scrutiny following a cable strike. We also preview Forum BHP 2026, one of the industry's key events, highlighting what visitors can expect from this year's exhibition and conference.

Our Working at Height feature sees Lisa Fitzpatrick at JLG Power Towers explain how incident reports can become valuable tools for preventing future accidents. Hello and welcome to the July/August issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.

The latest annual statistics from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are a timely reminder of both the progress made and the challenges that remain. While Great Britain continues to rank among the safest places in the world to work, 126 workers still lost their lives in work-related incidents during 2025/26. The figures also show that falls from height remain the leading cause of fatal injuries, construction and agriculture continue to account for the highest number of deaths, and 2,146 people died from mesothelioma in 2024 as a result of past asbestos exposure. Every statistic represents a life lost and reinforces why improving workplace safety can never become routine.
