and individuals from a whole host of backgrounds came together to dissect workplace mental health, and what can be done to help support it.
Tomorrow’s Health and Safety managed to catch a glimpse of Laing O’Rourke’s talk about its five-year journey to improve health and wellbeing. In its seminar, the UK-based construction company, explained how with comprehensive programmes, training courses and employee engagement projects like an annual ‘best improver competition, it has transformed its working practises for 4,000 workers across 70 sites. After results from its ‘Mind’ survey in 2017, the company noted that its line managers struggled to identify and react to mental health issues in the workplace. Since O’Rourke introduced a line manager training programme over 400 managers know how to spot signs and symptoms and support members of their team through mental health issues.
AWARDS We also had the chance to catch up with two of the three winning companies from the Tomorrow’s Health and Safety Awards 2019 and present them with their trophies.
Alcumus On the Tuesday, we visited the Alcumus stand to present the company with the 1st

organisations to digitalise their environmental, health, safety and quality (EHSQ) data, processes and workflows.
Alcumus’ mission is to provide clients with a software solution that enables their risk management practices to evolve from being reactive and tactical to proactive and predictive. For software to be successful, it must be at the heart of an organisation’s safety culture, so unlike other software providers, the company configures and tailors a solution to the client’s requirements.
Alyn Franklin, CEO of Alcumus Group, was delighted to accept the award. Speaking to THS Editor Ryan Lloyd, he said: “Awards such as this mean a lot to us because they’re voted for by the readers and public at large. At Alcumus, we are very proud of the technology-led solutions that we offer our customers and winning this award is a great testament to that.”
The Editor and CEO celebrated with a glass of champagne each and discussed how well the show was going. Alyn said: “The quality of the conversations I’ve been having with some of the professionals walking through the door has been truly enlightening.”
Keen to praise the whole team, he added: “I am lucky enough to work with a talented bunch of people here at Alcumus and I would like to personally thank everyone for all their hard work and dedication in making Info Exchange one of the leading risk management software solutions on the market.
