More than 159 years ago our business, now a fourth- generation company, was founded in Leeds, West Yorkshire where our head office still remains.
Originally a heavy plant and machinery specialist for customers in the local area, our reputation for high quality customer service soon spread. Fast forward to the present day and our distinctive vehicles and salt spreaders are now a familiar sight nationwide.

At the Gritting Company, our expansive fleet of winter maintenance vehicles are strategically located at over 75 depots throughout the UK, giving complete national coverage. They carry around 10 tonnes of salt each, enough to cover their full route and giving the ability to spread extra salt in adverse weather. The weather doesn’t work on a 9am-5pm basis, so neither do we. For complete peace of mind, we provide you with a 24/7 contact number and there will always be a manager on hand to assist with your call.
