THE COMPLETE SOLUTION PTSG has established itself as a leading provider of specialist services to the construction

and FM sectors. Here, the company tells Tomorrow’s FM why it’s been so successful. As one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist services to the construction and facilities management sectors, Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) is dedicated to protecting people, property and places for its 20,000 customers.

PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd and PTSG Electrical Services Ltd are two of the Group’s four business divisions (the other two being PTSG Access & Safety Ltd and PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd). All the work undertaken by PTSG’s engineers is dedicated to ensuring people are safe and protected at all times.

Over the last year, both Fire Solutions and Electrical Services have been boosted by acquisitions that have extended the scope of specialist services offered to customers – as well as the coverage of the UK, with a total of 47 PTSG office locations.

Compliance – more than meeting obligations PTSG’s work in fire and electrical safety means ensuring organisations adhere to the latest regulations so their buildings operate at optimal efficiency, from the intrinsic electrical wiring to fire suppression systems – and a multitude of other systems in between. We also offer legislative and technical support to supplement our specialist services.

We have over 250 separate industry accreditations illustrating the depth and quality of the work we do – which benefits organisations in multiple ways:

• Ethically – compliance maximises the safety of people.

• Operationally – compliant buildings operate more efficiently and effectively.

• Financially – safe and efficient buildings make greater financial sense.

• Reputationally – compliant businesses are protected against legal action.

Fire safety PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd is the Group’s biggest area of growth. It has taken shape through a number of carefully considered strategic business acquisitions, culminating in a fully comprehensive service offering.

Its most recent acquisition saw Neo Property Solutions Ltd join the Group. Based in Leeds, the business delivers the survey, design, installation, testing and certification of fire-rated composite and timber doors, fire door maintenance, fire-rated glazing solutions, fire compliance surveys, fire stopping, fire compartmentation, and fire curtains and cavity barriers.

It takes its place alongside: • A mechanical fire business comprising: • Dry and wet risers – installation and maintenance

• Sprinkler systems – installation, test and maintenance, UK Dry Risers Maintenance

• Fire extinguishers – test, supply and maintenance • Sprinkler pump maintenance

• An electrical fire and security business comprising:

• Fire alarms and emergency lighting – testing and installation

• CCTV, access and intruder alarms – design and installation

• Suppression systems – including systems for kitchens

A unique approach to electrical compliance Good practice in electrical compliance depends on taking a high-quality, continuous approach to record keeping – giving the duty holder the power to quickly and easily recall electrical records over a number of years.

This is the basis of TraQit – the industry’s only real ‘interactive’ electrical compliance portal, developed by Guardian Electrical Compliance Ltd. (a constituent company of PTSG). It is the company’s standard medium of reporting that ensures – at all times – that records and schematic drawings are current, accurate and consolidated with a version history of change.

TraQit enables different tradesmen to log on to real-time accurate reports on site, ensuring a safe system of working, whilst also vastly reducing the potentially endless search for existing records. The time and money savings are immeasurable.

PTSG is also a supplier of lightning protection services. It combines the talent and experience of some of the UK’s leading practitioners including JW Gray. Established in 1835, it is believed to be the oldest trading service provider of its kind in the UK, possibly even in Europe. Further companies acquired in the south-west, north-west, midlands and Scotland give PTSG a national reach.
