WHAT’S NEW?
ABILITY SELECTED FOR LONDON
CONSTRUCTION PROJECT Ability Projects Ltd. has announced that its EVO270 fan coil units (FCUs) have been installed in the construction of a new office building at The Brunel Building, 2 Canalside Walk, London. The building has been designed to offer high quality office space and the 605 FCUs provided by Ability will supply heating and cooling across 15 floors.
The EVO270 meets the heating and cooling requirements of the most demanding building developments, including the lower acoustic levels associated with the exposed to view installation type favoured in many modern buildings.
Laing O’Rourke, an international engineering enterprise that has delivered some of the world’s most prestigious buildings, is responsible for the construction of the Brunel Building in Paddington.
James Brazier, Mechanical Project Manager, Laing O’Rourke, said: “The building’s modern design incorporates exposed concrete features, along with the installation of
exposed high-specification services. It was vital that we installed fan coil units which fitted the space restrictions, as well as the overall aesthetics of the design. Ability was able to provide us with a product that met our high standards and fulfilled our low noise output requirements.”
Jon Freeman, Product Manager at Ability, said: “This project had a demanding specification in terms of the space available to fit the fan coil units required to achieve the high heating and cooling duties. Adding to this challenge was the exposed to view installation of the FCUs and associated ductwork, which required
careful consideration to maintain acceptable noise levels. With commercial buildings increasingly adopting the exposed to view aesthetic, we have invested heavily in product development – putting our products through an extensive testing regime to ensure compliance with the most stringent noise constraints.”
The Brunel Building is due for completion in 2019. The development has been designed to create premium office space and add to the vibrancy of the area, which is enjoying significant regeneration ahead of the opening of Crossrail.
