complements the use of historical artefacts on display. These vintage items are designed to reflect the local history of the site and community as well as offering visual cues to aid reminiscence for dementia residents.

Polyflor safety flooring was used to help create homely interiors for the award-winning Winchcombe Place care home in Newbury, Berkshire.

Offering residential, dementia and nursing care, this 80-bedroom care home was designed by The Drawing Room Interiors of Solihull, with specialist furniture and vintage displays supplied and fitted by YTM Furniture of Pontefract. Polysafe Wood FX PUR decorative safety vinyl flooring was installed in the reception area, dining room and hair salon of Winchcombe Place care home.

The European Oak 3347 shade was chosen to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere which fitted in with the eclectic style of each of these communal areas. The flooring’s replication of natural materials and homely appearance helped to create a stylish environment that

The project team chose Polysafe Wood FX as a safe but attractive flooring option that would cater for residents with a wide range of needs associated with dementia and mobility issues. Polysafe Wood FX is a hard-wearing sheet vinyl flooring, which combines the authentic reproduction of wood with sustainable wet slip resistance to reduce the risk of slips and trips in residential or commercial areas.

The vinyl includes virtually invisible aggregates which provide traction for underfoot safety without compromising the high clarity look of the floor. The floor’s cross-linked and UV cured PUR polyurethane reinforcement means that it can be easily maintained with a simple cleaning regime.

As a manufacturer of flooring suitable for dementia care facilities, Polyflor has recently become a member of

PCMI SIGNS OFFERS TOP TIPS TO IMPROVE COMPANY IMAGE

PCMI Signs has released its five top tips to improve the image of care businesses across the country.

A spokesperson for the company, which has worked alongside care providers for over 30 years, said: “An important aspect of a successful care business is the creation of a memorable image that attracts clients.”

Here are the company’s top tips:

1. Have curb appeal. Smart signage boosts your professional integrity as a large percentage of care buyers decide whether or not to view based on the external view they see.

2. Know who you’re talking to. Help residents and visitors remember staff with legible name badges.

3. Present your credentials. Reassure visitors by displaying your staff accreditations and mandatory certificates in wipe clean cases.

4. Be consistent. Unified branding throughout your premises reflects a harmonious organisation.

5. Being seen in the community to support local causes is a great way to connect, while eye- catching banners and ‘giveaway’ coasters promote your business long after an event.
