ERSKINE CARE RECOGNISED FOR IMPLEMENTING

TRANSFORMATIVE TECHNOLOGY Residential and nursing care provider Erskine Care Homes has been recognised for its technology innovation at an awards ceremony at Wembley Stadium.

At the second Access World Conference, soſtware industry conference hosted by The Access Group, Erskine Care was presented with a 'Freedom to Do More' Customer Award for its implementation of

technology to transform the workplace.

The care provider offers support to ex-servicemen and women and their spouses in Scotland, through four care homes and a Veterans Village, comprising 44 cottages, an Activity Centre, five Assisted Living Apartments and 24 Single Living Apartments. The care homes provide care and support for residents with nursing, dementia, and end-of-life care needs.

A suite of Access Care Soſtware has helped Erskine to transform how they manage medication and keep care records, giving them the freedom to deliver high-quality, person-focussed nursing care to residents with complex care needs.

The improved efficiency and ease-of-use of their records system also enables staff at Erskine to keep real-time records, maintained on unobtrusive hand-held devices, that help them to tailor residents’ care to their specific needs and wants.

Pauline McIntyre, Deputy Director of Care at Erskine Care, said: “Before implementing the soſtware, we were using a paper- based system. Now, at the touch of a button, we access any information we need from any of the sites. The soſtware has certainly saved us time but, more importantly, it’s supporting the quality of our care. The mobile point of care means records are updated in real time and that really helps us to see the essence of the person we’re caring for.”

The Access Group’s Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Marjara, added: “At this year’s Access World, we’ve been excited to show delegates how we’ve been developing technology that will transform the workplace and help them get excited about the future of work. We know that, when using soſtware feels easy, we see staff start to smile, to love doing what they do, and to focus on what makes a difference.”

Following the success of its inaugural event last year, The Access Group invited customers and industry professionals to the iconic Wembley Stadium to network and gain insight into how technology is transforming the workplace.

The winners were announced on stage during the plenary session and each received a £1,000 donation to the charity of their choice.

NOW AVAILABLE IN UK An Italian-made range of grab rails for the healthcare sector is to be supplied by a leading UK-based manufacturer of products that protect doors, walls and people across the healthcare, care home, education and leisure sectors.

Intastop Ltd has now started offering the Tubocolor range by grab rail manufacturer Ponte Giulio. The grab rails have antimicrobial protection and anti-slip credentials, bringing a new dimension of safety and infection control to more elements of building interior specification, in both new-build projects and refurbishments.

Lisa Turner, Marketing Manager at Intastop Ltd, said: “We are delighted to have formed a partnership with Ponte Giulio, whose range of grab rails are in synchronicity with our own range of products.

“They complement our range of door and wall protection and the antimicrobial properties that these products offer allow us to extend and enhance the solutions we have for the care home and healthcare sectors, where such requirements are in high demand.”

The Tubocolor range has ‘Biocote’ technology, which kills 80% of microbes within 15 minutes and 99.9% within two hours, and which will last the lifetime of the product. The grab rails are different to any others on the market as they are warm- to-the-touch and have a non-slip yet a smooth finish. The

Furthermore, they are coated in vinyl and offer a non-porous finish unlike other comparable products which are oſten powder coated. All of the products meet with the guidelines in Approved Document M of the Building Regulation and British Standards and are tested up to 250kg and meet stringent loading guidelines up to 150kg.

“Finding products that bring solutions to our customers is very important to us as we continue to develop our range, and Tubocolor emulates exactly what we do.

“It will give us greater diversification to be able to deliver complete specification solutions in bathrooms and other areas where grab rails provide much needed stability and confidence to those accessing the areas,” Lisa added.

Ponte Giulio has over 45 years’ experience in providing specialist products for safe bathrooms and offers modern, stylish solutions for accessible environments.
