How do you choose a good pest control company? Julia Pittman, Director of Beaver Pest Control, has the following advice.
systems in place to reward them for good service?
We hear about pest control technicians working 10 to 12-hour days on a regular basis just to try and keep up with their routine calls. You are unlikely to get a good service if your technician is rushing around and just changing bait boxes. Let’s face it: your service is dependent on the technician that you get. Do you have a regular technician, do they know your premises and the problems that you have? Do they spend the time they
Looking for a pest control company via Google will produce pages and pages of results. These days even the newest, smallest company can produce professional looking websites to appeal to those in need of pest control services.
Using the British Pest Control Association's Find a Member service will help to ensure selecting a company audited and qualified to the minimum standards, but what else should you consider? We would suggest bearing in mind the following:
Going the extra mile
It’s worth paying attention to what the company’s culture is like. Is willingness to go the extra mile embedded into their service and has it become a normal part of their daily routine? When you speak to your technician or the office, think about whether are they helpful and informative, or whether you get the impression that they can’t be bothered.

need to on your contract? Do they work safely or are they cutting corners just to get the bare minimum done?
As well as having enough time, they should also have the skills that come from regular training and keeping current. Pest Control regulations and product labels change frequently so your company and technician will need to be up to date with the latest rules and protocols.
Great back office support
No matter how good your technician is, there will come a time when you need to speak to someone in the office. The technicians and back office should work seamlessly together with information between the front line and the office easily available.
Can you get your reports easily if you are based off-site? Can the office deal with any questions that you have for them, and do they actually resolve your issues easily? Do you get a speedy response?
Careful selection of a company will pay dividends when it comes to pest control: after all, we are a knowledge-based service industry.
