Aramark Ireland Releases CSR Report For 2014

Aramark Ireland has released its annual Corporate Responsibility Report for activities in the past year. The report highlights the initiatives and contributions made by the company’s employees to environmental awareness and sustainability.

Speaking at the launch of Aramark’s annual CSR Report, Donal O’Brien, Chief Executive of Aramark Ireland, said: “We are at a critical point in our planet’s history, and the actions we take, or do not take, will have serious implications for generations to come. It is our responsibility to maximise the resources we possess and minimise our contribution and our impact on climate change. Aramark is well placed to drive environmental awareness across a wide range of areas, given our expertise in the areas of Food, Environmental Services, Property and Facilities Management.”

In addition to the report, Aramark is encouraging people to commit

to walking, cycling or taking public transport to work, not leaving office IT on standby mode, considering green sources of energy both at home and at work and learning how to apply them. Among the ongoing initiatives introduced by Aramark Ireland are:

• Promoting and sourcing fresh local produce with its Celebrate Irish Food campaign; it creates awareness and highlights the importance of local food sourcing as well as food education, amongst its customers and employees. Each year, Aramark spends over €60million supporting local suppliers.

• Aramark announced its partnership with GIY (Grow It Yourself), the not- for-profit organisation dedicated to inspiring people to grow their own food, to promote the use of locally sourced products and awareness and the understanding of the impact that food has on health and wellness.

• Supporting the campaign for healthy

living through the launch of its Right Track campaign. An initiative to promote healthy eating and work life balance, supported by Health and Wellness Ambassador, Katie Taylor, people across the country are being encouraged to change one thing in their lives, be it big or small, physical or emotional wellness.

• €54,000 in funds raised to support Aramark’s nominated charities for 2013, bringing the total funds raised for charities €273,000 since 2008.

“Sustainability and efficiency are two primary concerns facing businesses today, including Aramark. We expect the area of green business to double in the next five years, as organisations become more aware of the economic and environmental savings they can achieve from such efficiency projects. By investing in environmental measures, we can realise these benefits for our clients, employees and suppliers,” concluded Donal.

is currently exploring opportunities to grow the alliance to a global level.

Ben McCauley, Managing Director at Grosvenor Services, said: “We’re delighted to be the Shareholder hosting this ECS quarterly conference which brings together experts from across Europe. The aim of the conference is to ensure we continue to deliver exceptional facilities management services to our customers.

“Facility managers face new challenges in their complex work – from energy management to organisational and demographic changes.
