COVER STORY
wasted and fewer transport lorries are required to supply facilities with toilet tissue. Even more important in public sector facilities, is the fact that single-sheet dispensing dramatically cuts costs. Besides its ability to reduce cost-in-use, the Tork SmartOne® system is also highly suitable for vulnerable environments, since the dispenser is sufficiently robust to withstand rough treatment where vandalism or pilferage may be an issue. The fact that the units are easy to wipe clean too helps to maintain the hygienic appearance of the washroom.
Plus, the sturdy dispensers contain no fissures or crevices where needles or medication could be stored – a problem that could occur in a hospital, for example. Another huge benefit of Tork SmartOne® toilet tissue is that laboratory tests have shown the paper to break down extremely effectively in water. In fact, a number of facilities including hospitals, leisure parks, catering outlets and retail stores have recently switched to the Tork SmartOne® system to help prevent expensive toilet blockages.
Another product that has historically been highly successful in the Lotus Professional portfolio is the Reflex system; this again helps to reduce consumption and waste through single-sheet dispensing. The Reflex

unit has been renamed the Tork Reflex™ Single Sheet Centrefeed Dispenser – a logical change that spells out the features and benefits of this ingenious system. “Many people who use centrefeed dispensers for workplace wipers use far more paper than is required to complete the task, mainly because it is just so easy to do so,” added Liam. “The Tork Reflex™ Single Sheet Centrefeed Dispenser provides one length of paper at a time, and tests have shown this to reduce consumption by up to 37%.”
Although only a handful of former “Lotus Professional” names feature in the new, integrated Tork range, many former Lotus Professional products are still available under new names. These are packaged in cartons that bear a distinctive flash to clarify to customers what their name used to be before Lotus Professional became a part of Tork. One of these is the Next Turn hand towel system, which was a huge hit with hotels, restaurants and cafes since it combined a hygienic operation with a high capacity unit and single-sheet dispensing. This system is now a key product in the Tork range under its new name, the Tork Hand Towel Roll Manual Dispenser.
Besides being assured of continued access to their favourite Lotus
Professional products along with a wide assortment of Tork washroom and industrial products, customers in Ireland now receive greater support than ever before. “We have moved to new offices on the north side of Dublin, and enhanced our dedicated Tork sales and customer services teams to manage all our customer requirements. This ensures we can respond to our customer needs in Ireland quickly to support our market- leading position,” explained Liam.
The merging of the two brands – has been relatively seamless, mainly because the brands were already such a good fit. Liam concluded: “The acquisition of the Lotus Professional tissue business in Europe by Tork has brought two exceptional brands together. Lotus Professional is a highly-trusted brand and the spirit of innovation that customers have come to expect from them will continue to live on in Tork. This highly successful union has meant that our customer base – both Tork customers and those who used to buy Lotus Professional products – now really do have the best of both worlds.”
