On the distribution front, we are pioneering a range of carbon reduction initiatives like ‘backhaul’ logistics (which mean haulage vehicles return with shipments rather than travelling back empty after deliveries) and vacuum compression to optimise transport efficiency and reduce emissions.

Empowering workforces

Efficiency and profitability are also directly tied to the wellbeing and effectiveness of staff. The cleaning sector has been particularly impacted by staff shortage and companies are turning to sustainable practices and innovative products not only for their environmental impact, but also for their role in boosting staff satisfaction and productivity.

Employees for many of our Toucan Eco customers, for example, have reported a preference for such eco-friendly solutions due to their ease to use and gentleness to skin. Additionally, technological advances such as the Meta- Scrub 60 floor cleaning robot are revolutionising cleaning efficiency, freeing human workers to focus on more intricate tasks and making the cleaning operative role a more rewarding one.

Working with suppliers

As cleaning businesses employ more complex cost/ benefit analysis processes to assess long-term value and bring onboard new product innovations, it’s

becoming more important than ever for them to work closely with manufacturers.

As Robert Scott looks towards its 100-year anniversary in 2025, we are unwavering in our commitment to supporting customers overcome challenges and make the most of opportunities. When we carry out our pulse of the industry surveys, we also make sure to include customer satisfaction questions, so that we can learn from our clients’ experiences and expectations and act on feedback.

This year, it was fantastic to see that 93% of our customers rated our overall service as good or great, with 100% stating they’d recommend our products. This close relationship has never been more important and is something we will continue to build on.

The takeaway for 2024

Leaders in the cleaning sector are increasingly aware that embedding sustainability practices and commitments can yield more than just environmental benefits – it’s a sound investment in the future.

We’re proud to be providing pioneering solutions that can not only enhance the bottom line, but also the quality of service for businesses, their teams and the environment.
