AMTICO OFFERS When interior designer René Dekker was commissioned to bring his trademark sense of lux
The M Bar and Grill Restaurant in Twickenham is the newest London location for entrepreneurial restaurateur Martin Williams and his rapidly- expanding M Restaurant group.
Top London interior designer René Dekker at René Dekker Design was commissioned to bring his own brand of trendsetting luxury to the renovation project. For the flooring design, René took inspiration from a parquet pattern he discovered in Italy and then turned to Amtico, knowing its expert team would be able to replicate the pattern and provide a totally bespoke solution.
With a key emphasis on maintaining the elements of a traditional British pub, René Dekker was keen to replicate the style of an oak parquet style timber floor, while bringing it up to date with 21st Century technology. To achieve the required look, he chose four types of timber finish from Amtico’s Signature collection in an intricate Basket Weave design.
The strong, contrasting pattern was achieved by blending four Amtico LVT products – Shibori Sencha, Shibori Jasmine, Cirrus Shadow and Ink Wash Wood – throughout the restaurant and bar areas, which totalled 147m2
.
Also central to the project was a custom ‘M’ monogram, which is located in the entrance to the restaurant. The flexibility of Amtico’s LVT allowed for the creation of a bespoke design, so René Dekker provided a drawing showing the requirements. This was used to create an impression that was presented to the client and, following approval, the ‘M’ logo was seamlessly incorporated into the flooring. This was achieved by utilising the skills of Amtico’s in-house design team, their CAD expertise and the manufacturer’s advanced cutting capabilities.
Commenting on the project, René Dekker, said: “I knew the design would work well within the new restaurant and I was delighted that Amtico was able to reproduce it using the Basket Weave pattern from the Signature collection.
