Pump-applied levelling compounds offer time-saving solutions for fast turnaround on workplace installations, says F. Ball and Co. Ltd.

When working on office and workplace refurbishments, contractors will often be faced with tight time restraints in order for buildings to be up and running again as soon as possible. When time equals money, a good way to work quickly and efficiently is to pump-apply levelling compounds, especially when working on larger scale projects.
Pump application reduces downtime in business situations, allowing for areas to be returned to use as quickly as possible. There is a wide selection of products from F. Ball and Co. that can be pump-applied due to their water-based properties, including heavy-duty, deep section and wearcoat levelling compounds, which can act as fast-track options when time is short.
Such was the case at dental practice Ten Bolscher in Rijssen, The Netherlands, where F. Ball’s Stopgap 300 HD and Stopgap 600 Base levelling compounds were among the F. Ball products used to deliver a super smooth, hardwearing and attractive floor finish quickly and efficiently.
The work was part of a total refurbishment of the dental practice to create a modern, contemporary style and layout. The project also demanded products that would help the contractors to meet the tight timescales required to get the practice operational for customers and staff again.
Part of the floor area had formerly been used as a bathroom and required the sand/cement subfloor to be raised by 40mm. To achieve this, contractors from Ter Harmsel Interieurverzorging pump-applied Stopgap 600 Base deep section compound, after priming the subfloor with F. Ball’s Stopgap P131 general purpose primer.
Stopgap 600 Base is a low odour, fast setting deep section base compound, which can be applied in thicknesses up to 50mm in one application and is walk on hard and ready to receive floorcoverings from only three hours after installation. It cures to chemically bind all remaining water in the mixture, which minimises the risk of air bubbles in the subfloor and also means that contractors are not faced with having to wait for all of the water to evaporate naturally, dramatically decreasing the drying time. It can also be pumped up to 900m2
per day, dependent upon manpower, thickness applied and equipment used.
Once the Stopgap 600 had cured, the area was primed with Stopgap P131 primer and Stopgap 300 HD was then applied to ensure that a high quality, uniform finish was achieved throughout the practice. To minimise installation time, Stopgap 300 HD was pump-applied over the entire 160m2 floor area.
Stopgap 300 HD is a heavy-duty levelling compound, with a high compressive strength that creates durable surfaces for floors that will be subject to high levels of foot traffic or heavy equipment. Its excellent self-levelling properties ensure a completely smooth and even base for the installation of LVTs, and it can be pump applied up to 1500m2 Additionally, both Stopgap 600 Base and Stopgap 300

HD levelling compounds are protein free, making them suitable for use in biologically-sensitive areas such as public workplaces or offices, especially within healthcare facilities.
Once the levelling compound was fully dried, Expona Design luxury vinyl tiles and planks were installed in different areas of the dental practice using F. Ball’s Styccobond F46 pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive.
This solvent-free adhesive offers a high initial tack, to prevent tiles and planks from moving during installation, and produces a very high bond strength, which continues to build over time. Once the Expona Design flooring had been installed, the rooms were immediately ready to use.
