EDITOR’S VOICE TCF CONTACTS EDITORIAL

Hello and welcome to the March issue of Tomorrow’s Contract Floors,

Now more than ever, the emphasis is strongly upon creating healthy spaces to live in work in. The benefits of a ‘well building’ are many. Not only does it have a positive effect on employee wellbeing and productivity but as the stress moves onto sustainability this brings environmental benefits too.

With this in mind, we have a special focus on Office & Workplace. We feature a case study from Polyflor whose range of products have been selected for the UK’s first energy positive building. Then, we then take a look at some renovation projects where old buildings have been transformed into new, modern workspaces. Milliken has worked with a Russian bank to create an award-winning flexible workplace while closer to home, Interface has helped to revamp an iconic Manchester building.

Focusing on sustainable materials, we shine the spotlight on natural flooring. Graham Clark of British Wool outlines the benefits that wool carpets can bring to commercial applications and I explore the many advantages of cork.

With the warmer weather on the way, we turn our attention to the outdoors. Steven Boulton at F. Ball and Co. Ltd. talks us through how to achieve the perfect exterior flooring installation and offers advice on selecting the optimum products. Finally, we hear from Flowcrete UK on the growing popularity of resin-bound stone carpet systems.

I hope you enjoy the issue.
