RECENT DEVELOPMENTS Most recently, F. Ball has launched Styccobond F73 PLUS, a new one-part adhesive for internal and external heavy-duty applications – the latest advancements in adhesives technology have enabled the creation of a solvent-free, moisture-curing alternative to polyurethane and epoxy adhesives.
The new adhesive provides the high bond strength required to hold a wide range of textile and resilient floorcoverings, including rubber, vinyl, linoleum and synthetic grass, firmly in place in areas that will be subject to heavy loads and high foot traffic, as well as surface water, such as entranceways. Once cured, it is resistant to water, oil and grease. Fibres in the adhesive limit lateral movement of floorcoverings when placed into the adhesive, a particular advantage when installing vinyl tiles or planks.
As well as being a one-part adhesive, meaning no mixing and less waste compared to traditional options, Styccobond F73 PLUS is easier to apply and offers faster curing, requiring as

little as 90 minutes to secure floorcoverings. The fast-setting properties allow welding of sheet floorcoverings to take place in as little as two hours.
COMPATIBILITY CHECK Another goal of research and development is to ensure compatibility of adhesives with new floorcoverings, which are continuously entering the market.
Contractors should always check the compatibility of particular floorcoverings and adhesives. For this purpose, F. Ball produces its industry-leading recommended adhesives guide (RAG), which lists adhesives recommended for use with over 6,000 floorcoverings produced by over 200 manufacturers. It’s available as a free app or a printed booklet, and an interactive version can also be found on the F. Ball website. Alternatively, F. Ball’s technical service department are on hand throughout the working week to answer your questions about F. Ball products and how to use them. Contractors can also consult floorcovering manufacturers for advice.
