◄ CFS Eternity Commercial - Imperial Oak Room shot MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE
Here, Lisa Tomlin, CEO of CFS, discusses the elements one must take into consideration when specifying flooring in the leisure sector.
Flooring within the leisure sector presents a unique set of requirements. As it is installed within the public domain, it’s under the scrutiny of many people and therefore must be aesthetically pleasing. It must also be hardy enough to withstand heavy wear and tear to increase the longevity of the product, while also being synonymous with what is often very creative branding.
WEAR AND TEAR Whether considering appropriate flooring for a hotel, museum or restaurant, buildings in the leisure sector experience a much higher footfall than the average building, and this is something that must be taken into account. Specifying a robust floorcovering that can withstand increased traffic is paramount to ensure not only that the floor remains in peak condition for as long as possible, but also that it does not become damaged and prove a health risk to the general public.
A high-quality Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), such as the CFS Eternity Commercial range, will provide the hardiness to last in a leisure environment. And, available in a range of effects including wood decor, it looks attractive while also being easy to maintain. LVT is one of the fastest growing floor choices for the leisure sector, and it’s easy to see why.
INTERIOR DESIGN As buildings within the leisure sector are public facing, they need to be on trend, with all the products specified tailored to fit a certain aesthetic and suit the established branding of an organisation.

style, while also being durable and more comforting underfoot – typical for a hotel. Similarly, LVT comes in a range of styles, meaning each interior design choice is catered for. It is also easy to install and maintain.
With an increased amount of interaction from the public, often armed with food and drink, floorcoverings in the leisure industry will see a lot of spills and damage. This is inevitable, but helping your client to choose a clever covering can prevent any long-term damage. Installing tiled carpet or LVT prevents the need to replace the whole roll of carpet if a small section is damaged, which is an important consideration for both budgets and logistics in a busy public building.
STATEMENT A lot of leisure companies use fixtures and fitting to express their brand, and CFS products lend themselves perfectly to this. A patchwork pattern of carpet can brighten up a room, whilst parquet style LVT injects traditional, classic style into a building. Using tiled floorcoverings to create a path to a checkout in a hotel or a key monument in a museum can also help customers navigate, creating an overall more positive experience during their time in the building.
INSTALLER Despite using a top-quality product, using the wrong installer can make or break a project. We suggest using a recommended installer with experience in the leisure sector to make sure your project is completed on time, and to budget.
