TRULY IN-SPA-RATIONAL Ceramique Internationale has supplied an award-winning luxury resort near Harrogate.
Tile specialist Ceramique Internationale has completed a prestigious spa project, using its experience in tile design to add the finishing touches to Rudding Park’s new £9.5m spa in North Yorkshire.
Continuing a partnership which spans more than ten years, Ceramique Internationale was selected to provide Rudding Park with new tiles for its pools, outdoor surfaces and changing room areas, working closely with contacts at some of Europe’s finest tile manufacturers to provide the highest quality products.
Located in 300 acres of beautiful Yorkshire countryside close to the famous spa town of Harrogate, Rudding Park is a Grade I listed Regency-style country house-turned-luxury hotel, with restaurants, two golf courses and multiple events spaces which have helped the resort scoop a number of prestigious travel awards.
After more than a decade of planning, which was closely overseen by owners Simon and Judi Mackaness, the new spa incorporates an indoor swimming pool, a Juniper Log Sauna, a Rasul, extensive Mind and Sense Zones and beauty facilities, as well as an awe-inspiring Roof Top Spa. Designed by award- winning gardener and TV presenter, Matthew Wilson, the Roof Top Spa houses a Hydrotherapy Infinity Pool, panoramic sauna, steam rooms, an ice fountain, a snail shower experience and first-of-a-kind Rooftop Garden.
To create the spa’s look, the Yorkshire hotel enlisted the help of Leeds-based architect Enjoy Design, interior designers Horseley and Feather from Bradford, and long time collaborator and tile specialist Ceramique Internationale.
With more than 40 years’ experience and knowledge in luxury tiles, Ceramique Internationale has worked with Rudding Park over a ten-year period, previously supplying tiles for the resort’s bedrooms, bathrooms and holiday lodges, and has also worked with Enjoy Design on a number of projects throughout Yorkshire.

Working to a design brief, Ceramique Internationale’s Specification Sales Manager, David Longbottom, put forward a selection of tiles, with products from leading Italian manufacturers Casalgrande Padana and Ragno being chosen.
Specialising in swimming pools and spa designs, Casalgrande was the perfect choice. Its Amazzonia in Dragon Grey tile provided striking detail along the edge of Rudding Park’s indoor pool, with some of the Amazzonia pieces being made specially in the UK in order to blend in with the pool’s bespoke drainage system.
For the inside of the tank and surrounds of both the Hydrotherapy Infinity and indoor pool, Ceramique Internationale specified Ragno’s Landscape tile in Sabbia (beige). The tiles used on the pool surround feature a Bocciardato anti-slip surface to enhance the safety of guests, while those used within the pool tanks had a natural surface to create a seamless finish.
For the resort’s changing and treatment areas, Casalgrande Padana’s Marte range, in tones of beige and grey, was used extensively, with Marte Grigio Egeo and Botticino tiles on the walls, and the Grigio Maggia and Grigio Egeo on the floors.
Cameron Fraser, Director of Ceramique Internationale, said: “The Rudding Park Spa is destined to be one of the finest in the country and recaptures Harrogate’s spa heritage so we are more than delighted to have been able to play a part in its creation.
“We work hard to build relationships with Europe’s finest tile manufacturers and this enables us to offer the best products on the market and meet design briefs for exciting projects such as this one. We believe that being able to put forward our personal recommendations and draw on our expertise, in terms of the right sort of tiles for swimming pools and spas, delivers huge benefits to our clients.”
