A STRONG AFFINITY


Wood-effect LVT from Polyflor has created a contemporary design finish, which incorporates zoning, at a gym in Wales.


Heavy commercial high-design luxury vinyl tiles from Polyflor’s Affinity255 PUR range were selected for the refurbished interior of a gym at Rhondda Sports Centre in Ystrad, Wales.


Two complementary wood-effect designs from the Affinity255 PUR LVT collection, Harvest Oak and Huckleberry Oak, were installed side by side throughout the reception, gym floor and circulation areas. The leisure centre is run by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and the refurbished 100-station gym featuring treadmills, bikes, cross trainers and rowing machines is now double the size of the original gym.

Approximately 300m² of Affinity255 PUR luxury vinyl tiles were fitted at the gym by Treorchy based flooring contractors Carpets ‘N’ Carpets Ltd. The 16 authentically reproduced wood plank designs within this collection replicate the natural variations found in solid wood through the use of tonal hues and surface textures.

Ideal for heavy traffic leisure environments where there are high levels of footfall, the hardwearing Affinity255 range features a cross linked and UV cured polyurethane reinforcement (PUR) which protects the floor and allows for a simple maintenance regime. This range has also been designed with a 2mm gauge which enables it to be easily installed alongside other 2mm sheet vinyl flooring products such as Polyflor’s homogeneous, heterogeneous and safety flooring ranges.


Affinity255 PUR is 100% recyclable via the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme and contains an average of 40% recycled content. Product samples can be ordered free of charge on the Polyflor website or by calling the Polyflor Samples Direct Hotline on 0161 767 2551.


Polyflor also offers Sport 67 indoor sports flooring, a 6.7mm gauge flooring available in blue, green and a maple wood effect that is widely specified for college, school and local authority sports halls, gymnasia and leisure centres. The product conforms to EN14904, the European standard for sports flooring, and meets all Sport England requirements.
