THE VINYL RESULT
Bostik provides professional advice on selecting the correct adhesive for any vinyl installation.
Choosing the right adhesive is vital when laying vinyl flooring in order to ensure that an attractive and long-lasting installation is achieved.
Vinyl flooring can be broadly split into two categories - sheet vinyl and vinyl tiles. Sheet vinyl basically comprises of layered products (heterogeneous) and non-layered products (homogenous).
With heterogeneous products, choosing the correct
RESISTING PLASTICISER MIGRATION Bostik Roll is a solvent-free adhesive tape that has been specially designed for the fast installation of skirting, capping strips, cove formers and other floor or wall-mounted accessories with no risk of plasticiser migration.
Supplied in ready-to-use, dry adhesive rolls in widths of 25mm, 50mm or 85mm, it’s an effective alternative to water and solvent-based adhesives and provides an immediate, extra-strong grip and long-life bond.
As the adhesive is dry, there’s no curing time required, meaning no waiting around and the area remains free from any overspill.
The roll is fully-compatible with PVC accessories and underfloor heating, with a temperature resistance of -40o
C to +120o C. As it’s solvent-free, Bostik Roll is an
environmentally friendly option that has less impact on the building occupants. It achieves A+ and EC1 Plus ratings with LEED and EN 13999:2007 for BREEAM, thanks to its very low VOC emissions.

adhesive is key as solvents can cause discoloration of the surface of the vinyl. This is generally observed as happening on cap and cove installations where a solvent based contact adhesive has been used. Even the most fastidious contractors can never be sure that all the solvent has evaporated, particularly in winter installations, so it is prudent to either use a solvent-free contact adhesive or a quality double sided adhesive tape, such as the Bostik Roll.
