STONE & CERAMIC

THE FULL PACKAGE

Palace Chemicals discusses its comprehensive aftercare range for stone and ceramic flooring.

As experienced tile fixers know, even after a tiling project is completed, there is still work to do in order to protect the aesthetics and hygiene of the installation.

It is important to remember that tiles are not impervious. The surfaces of tiles and stones are covered in microscopic pores, which make them susceptible to water penetration or the trapping of dirt, which can quickly make tiles look stained.

Tile sealers create an invisible protective layer over the surface, stopping liquids and grime from penetrating and ensuring a long- lasting and beautiful finish. Furthermore it is not just an issue of aesthetics, but also one of hygiene, so it is particularly important to pay attention to correct sealing in food preparation areas, such as kitchens, along with other areas, like washrooms.

Irrespective of the tile type, grout joints should also be sealed to preserve their durability and colour retention. Most grout types are only water-resistant (which means they allow water to slowly permeate without degrading in any way), so the tile joint surface will benefit from sealing to prevent the ingress of moisture and dirt, which will cause staining, discolouration and potential hygiene issues, especially in kitchens or washroom areas.

Palace Chemicals offers a range of seven new and recently repackaged tilecare products, which cover the key aftercare requirements. Each product features a different colour flash to help make it immediately identifiable. Like all Palace products, the range has been conceived around the company’s core values of trust, support, excellence, quality, service and innovation.

The first new product is GROUT HAZE & RESIN REMOVER, indicated with a pink flash. This has been introduced to support the growing trend for using porcelain tiles or paving for both interior and exterior spaces around buildings. These can be

prone to issues caused by haze and residues on the surface of the tile. GROUT HAZE & RESIN REMOVER features a specialist gel stripping formula, which is designed to remove polymer and resin haze from glazed, textured and porcelain tiles.

The other product which is new to the range is PORCELAIN & GROUT SEALER, identified by a yellow flash. This is a water- based porcelain, natural stone and grout impregnator, designed to enhance the repellency of the tile surface to protect against both oil and water-based stains. It is suitable for both internal and external applications and its formulation makes it especially suitable for modern porcelain tiles, including those installed externally.

˝GROUT HAZE & RESIN

REMOVER features a specialist gel stripping formula, which is

designed to remove polymer and resin haze from glazed, textured and porcelain tiles.˝

ALL-PURPOSE TILE CLEANER is suitable for use on all types of tiled surface including marble and calcareous natural stone. Either of which risk being damaged by more aggressive cleaners. The product will remove fine cement film, limescale and soap scum from tiled surfaces to leave a bright clean finish, which resists the further build-up of water-borne stains with regular use. ALL-PURPOSE TILE CLEANER features an orange flash.

HEAVY DUTY PORCELAIN & NATURAL STONE TILE CLEANER is a concentrated alkaline solution for removing heavily soiled and grimy deposits from polished or unpolished stone and porcelain tiled surfaces. It penetrates surface pores and lifts accumulated dirt, returning the tile to its original clean ‘as new’ appearance. It has a green flash. This product has been reformulated to offer increased performance making it suitable for modern porcelains (including outdoor tiles).
