EACH & EVERY LEVEL Levelling compounds and subfloor preparation products from UltraFloor
have been used in two very diverse projects; a car dealership workshop and a specialist accommodation development.
SUPPORTING THE NHS G J Flooring Specialists Ltd. used Suppress IT and Level IT Two to complete a 1,000m² subfloor preparation project at a specialist accommodation development in Blackburn.
The NHS facility was built to provide accommodation for young adults with disabilities. The £900,000 project included 12 one-bedroom apartments, a quiet room and sensory room. The facility will enable young adults to live independently with support.
GOING THE EXTRA MILE CSLL Contract Flooring Ltd used Level IT Top to install a 700m² floor at a new Hyundai garage workshop in Southampton.
With over 75,000 employees and 5,000 dealerships and showrooms worldwide, Hyundai has continued to grow in popularity. In 2017 the company achieved a sales growth of 9.8%, putting them 8.8% ahead of their UK business plan and increasing their market share from 3.35% to 3.45% - a figure which not all car manufacturers can boast.
To keep up with demand, Hyundai has opened a number of new showrooms including Richmond Hyundai in Southampton. The dealership not only prides itself on its excellent customer service but the after-sales care package they also offer.
In order to enhance their servicing, body shop and MOT offerings, a new 700m² workshop was built on site at the Southampton dealership.
CSLL Contract Flooring Ltd, the chosen contractor for this project, used Level IT Top heavy duty surface finish floor leveller to complete the subfloor preparation at this busy location. Suitable for both commercial and industrial applications, Level IT Top is a polymer rich, high strength single part, cementitious smoothing underlayment with exceptional abrasion resistance.
Level IT Top boasts a coverage of approximately 3.1m² at 5mm, has a working time of 30-40 minutes, can receive foot traffic after just 2-3 hours and forklift traffic after 36 hours – keeping downtime to a minimum and allowing business to resume quickly.
UltraFloor’s Level IT Top was applied by trowel to the concrete and cement substrate and was left as a finished wear surface before a resin coating was applied 48 hours later.
A quick response to a site visit request, ongoing support and communication and cost-effective solutions, were just some of the reasons why CSLL Contract Flooring Ltd chose to use UltraFloor for the installation.
38 | LEVELLING COMPOUNDS
Designed to suppress residual construction moisture – allowing the earlier installation of floorcoverings - Suppress IT is a ready to use single component rapid drying moisture suppressant primer membrane. Applied in two coats, Suppress IT provides up to 95% RH protection, removes the need to prime and is available in a re-sealable 5l bottle so you can pop the lid back on and use the rest another day. Not only that, Suppress IT is pigmented orange so you can see exactly where you have applied it.
As soon as the second coat of Suppress IT had dried, Level IT Two high flow smoothing underlayment was applied by trowel to the substrate. There are many reasons why Level IT Two has become UltraFloor’s most popular floor leveller. Its exceptional flow characteristics make it a very easy material to apply to a variety of subfloors in both commercial and domestic flooring projects and due to its low odour formulation it is equally suited to confined areas proving particularly popular in the education, health and hospitality sectors.

Before work began on the new building, UltraFloor’s Technical Field Support and Training Manager, Alan Collins, visited Apple Street to carry out a detailed site specification. In order to recommend the correct materials for the project, a Hygrometer was used to measure the moisture in the concrete substrate. After 72t hours, the readings were between 80% and 85% RH, and because the project needed to be completed within six weeks, a moisture suppressant was recommended to reduce the moisture reading to 75% to allow Level IT Two to be laid.
