NEW PRESIDENT FOR THE SOCIETY OF BRITISH AND INTERNATIONAL


DESIGN The Society of British and International Design (SBID) has appointed Diana Celella as the new SBID President for the term 2018 - 2020. Succeeding SBID’s Founding President, Dr Vanessa Brady OBE, Diana is committed to further developing SBID’s core mission; to guide and measure the profession’s trading standards.


Diana Celella is an award-winning designer based in the West Midlands. She has been a practitioner for over 30 years and currently operates in the commercial sector of interior design, specialising in healthcare projects, including care homes, dental practices, assisted living and retirement villages. She is recognised throughout the industry as an expert in retirement living design and implementation of evidence-based design.


SBID has also appointed HOK’s Vice President and Director of Interiors Tom Marquardt, IIDA, SBID, AMA-EC as President Elect until 2020. An internationally respected leader, Tom’s innovative work with interiors, interdisciplinary design and branded environments has been recognized for almost three decades. Tom will take office in 2020 and serve as President until 2022.

J+J FLOORING PRESIDENT AND CEO ANNOUNCES


RETIREMENT J+J Flooring President David Jolly recently announced his retirement from the company, effective 31 March. James Lesslie, current Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Engineered Floors, has been appointed President of Engineered Floors’ Commercial Division which includes J+J Flooring, EF Contract and EF Hospitality.


David’s 27-year tenure with the company and his retirement mark the end of an era spanning three generations. David’s grandfather, Rollins Jolly, along with Tom Jones,

WIN A TRIP TO


BAUHAUSFEST WITH ALTRO Altro is celebrating aspirational design and innovative use of its flooring and walling products with a unique photography competition. The prize is an all-inclusive trip to the internationally- renowned Bauhausfest (31 August – 2 September 2018) in Dessau, Germany.


Entrants are invited to submit images featuring current Altro products taken anywhere in the world over the last five years. Images should show how Altro products complement and enrich architecture – a celebration of the possibilities of design. The winning image will be decided by an online public vote.


Altro has long been inspired by The Bauhaus. This connection was


founded the company in 1957. David’s father, Jim Jolly, served 40 years with the company before retiring in 2006 as Chairman and CEO. David has served as President since 2006.


“It’s been an honor and privilege to work alongside all the talented and highly dedicated people that make J+J what it is today,” said David. “I hope I’ll be seen as a good steward of the company who worked diligently to keep J+J’s founding culture intact – to treat people with respect, to invest in the future, to keep the focus on our customers, and to always give back to the community. Under David’s leadership, the company experienced sustained growth and achieved several industry-first accomplishments. In 2005, David worked to get the company back into the modular carpet business, successfully growing alongside the demand for soft surface tile products. He also paved the way for the introduction of Kinetex, an advanced textile composite flooring. In 2014, J+J was independently certified as the first floorcovering manufacturer in the U.S. to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill status.


Today, the company is a diversified manufacturer of commercial specified flooring offering carpet, luxury vinyl tile and Kinetex flooring solutions.
