90 years of making a difference
As Kärcher continues to mark its anniversary, we learn more about the company’s commitment to giving back.
As Kärcher marks its 90th anniversary, the cleaning provider is not only celebrating nine decades of cleaning innovation, but also highlighting the core values that have shaped its identity.
Central to this milestone is a commitment to sustainability, community support and making a lasting difference – principles that continue to drive Kärcher’s operations both globally and here in the UK.
Since its founding in 1935, Kärcher has grown into a global leader in cleaning technology, an achievement that has never been measured purely by traditional business metrics. The company’s approach is grounded in a belief that businesses should play an active role in supporting people, local communities and the planet. Whether restoring historic monuments, advancing sustainable product design or supporting charitable causes, Kärcher seeks to create cleaner, safer and more sustainable environments.
The company’s 2025 sustainability goals outline clear ambitions: reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy efficiency, embracing recyclable materials and strengthening employee involvement in environmental initiatives. Here in the UK, these values are more visible than ever as Kärcher marks its anniversary with a nationwide initiative delivering nine community give-back projects across the country in 2025.
This effort is part of a global programme of 90 projects, representing Kärcher’s 90 years of making a difference and commitment to giving back. In locations such as Banbury and Bristol, Kärcher teams are joining forces with local volunteers to carry out deep cleans and revitalise public spaces using Kärcher’s signature cleaning technology.
One key example is the cleaning provider’s partnership with Prior’s Court, a specialist autism education facility located near Kärcher’s UK headquarters in Banbury. Since 2023, Kärcher has carried out regular deep cleans across the 52-acre site, ensuring spaces such as the multi-sensory building, swimming pool and residential areas are safer and more comfortable for the young people who live and learn there. This support extends well beyond cleaning; Kärcher colleagues have taken part in charity hikes and half marathons to raise vital funds for the site’s development

and the team looks forward to a meaningful long-term partnership with this important organisation.
Another valued charity partner is Dogs for Good, a UK organisation that trains guide dogs for people with disabilities. Kärcher has supported the charity through a mix of financial sponsorship and practical help. As a proud ‘Puppy Partner’, Kärcher has helped fund the training of a puppy called Alfie and contributed to regular deep cleaning of the charity’s kennel facilities in Banbury, promoting hygiene and wellbeing for both dogs and staff.
The 90th anniversary has also provided the opportunity for Kärcher to support vital environmental efforts. In April, the company partnered with Nurdle, an organisation focused on tackling microplastic pollution, to carry out a beach clean in Lincolnshire. After a large volume of plastic pellets washed ashore following a ship collision in the North Sea, Kärcher worked with volunteers to deploy its specialist micro- vacuum technology to help remove over 11 tonnes of plastic from the coastline. The collected material is now being recycled, highlighting Kärcher’s commitment to practical, solution-focused environmental action.
Across all of these projects, the unifying thread is Kärcher’s belief in contributing to local communities. Whether it’s supporting a local autism facility, training assistance dogs or cleaning up the UK’s beaches, meaningful, lasting impact remains the focus. Of course, Kärcher’s people are central to this, with employees across the country actively volunteering their time and expertise to help make each initiative a success.
As Kärcher looks to the future, its mission remains clear: to lead not only in cleaning technology but also in corporate responsibility. In a world where businesses are increasingly judged by their values as much as their products, Kärcher continues to set a strong example – showing that commercial success and social purpose can go hand-in-hand.
