PUSHING WELLHEAD BOUNDARIES

Millions of pounds spent in wellhead intervention could be a thing of the past, extreme tests on Aberdeen-developed technology have revealed. Engineers at Plexus have announced that the Pos-Grip HG sealing system has successfully completed an extreme temperature verification programme from -75 to 400°F (equivalent to -59 to 204°C) in accordance with API 6A PR2F standards at 10,000 psi pressure. The tests, verified by Lloyds

Register, exceed conventional API 6A temperature class ranges of K (-75 to 180°F) and X (0 to 350°F), and Plexus engineers believe that no other wellhead sealing system can perform under the same punishing conditions in a single test run.

New safety-critical torque tool

available or simply in

Norbar Torque Tools has launched an innovative cordless torque tool, the EvoTorque Battery Tool (EBT), specifically designed to improve performance and data traceability in safety-critical and heavy industrial operations, such as the oil and gas industry. The new EBT is ideally suited for all applications where conventional electric or pneumatic power is not

situations where the removal of hoses and cables is needed to improve workplace safety. Developed to meet the market need for cordless torque tools, the EBT removes the need for on-site

generators, eliminates the problem of unreliable on-site voltage stability and declutters the workplace of trailing cables and hoses. It is capable of delivering exceptional power and accuracy whilst, crucially, gathering and transmitting the mission-critical data required for modern quality control systems.

SUBSEA ENGINEERING INNOVATION

William Hackett has launched the SSL5, incorporating its quad pawl (QP) mechanism – its safest and most efficient offshore and subsea lever hoist. “It’s a piece of engineering innovation that will transform safety levels when lifting offshore and in subsea operations using lever hoists,” says Ben Burgess, director. “We’ve designed this hoist to provide the highest level of safety, with increased levels of redundancy. Its QP offset load bearing mechanism offers enhanced operating performance compared to twin pawl products.” The QP mechanism synchronises a set of four pawls that work together to minimise the time and distance travelled to the next point of engagement.
