ЕVENT PREVIEW
EVENT PREVIEW: INTERPLAS T
he UK’s foremost plastics event will return to the NEC in Birmingham to celebrate its 75th year between 26-28
September, 2023. This year’s edition of the show will see almost 400 exhibitors present solutions, products, machines and ideas from across the plastics sector, as well as materials, automation, contract manufacturing and supporting technologies including software, testing, inspection, surface treatments and more. The show has built a significant
platform for the UK plastics industry to come together and create business opportunities over its 75-year history, hosting new machinery, product launches, breaking news announcements and exclusive demonstrations. “On the back of a highly successful 2021, despite the challenges of a pandemic and a fuel strike, we are looking forward to celebrating the 75th birthday of Interplas with the whole of the UK plastics industry,” says Duncan Wood, CEO of show organiser Rapid News Group. “The enthusiasm for 2023 in the months after the show has demonstrated that the

market is still 100% behind Interplas. We have planned a host of new enhancements and investments for the next edition, to ensure the show is relevant for the next 75 years. We will create an experience that is both a celebration of the UK plastics sector and still the primary place to do business.”
NEW ELEMENTS FOR 2023 Off the back of the show’s 2021 event, the organisers are looking to build on the digital offering of the exhibition. A significant technology investment has been directed at better linking pre-show activities and the live event together. A new web platform and event app enables visitor planning and exhibitor lead generation to be meshed together, with visitors able to review AI- recommended exhibitors, set meetings, and assemble checklists of who to visit and products to review. Meanwhile, the exhibitor dashboard captures and dis- plays these interactions to allow exhibi-

tors to reach out to registered visitors and set meetings ahead of the show. Interplas 2023 will also focus on
providing a high-level conference element to the show through a purpose- built closed theatre on the show floor. Across the three-day event, a detailed programme of speakers will tackle issues such as circular economy, reshoring, energy, diversity, equity and inclusion, sustainability and digitisation.
CELEBRATING 75 YEARS To mark its 75th anniversary, Interplas will be announcing its 75 most influen- tial people in the UK plastics industry. In recent months, anyone in the industry has been able to nominate individuals who they feel are most deserving of this recognition for their contribution to the industry. Meanwhile, the PlastikCity pavilion will make its return to this year’s event for its third edition since its debut in 2017. The pavilion is designed to provide opportunities for high-quality UK and Irish suppliers that may not normally exhibit at the show to assess the benefits of exhibiting in full at the event. “We are delighted that the PlastikCity
Pavilion is back for 2023,” adds Wood. “It is a big year for Interplas with our 75th birthday celebrations and this pavilion presents a great opportunity for smaller companies to join the party. The PlastikCity Pavilion is a firm fixture on the show floor at Interplas and we look forward to seeing the breadth of suppliers on there that our visitors will be able to connect with.”
