I’ve been taught by lecturers who still practise their craft working on films, commercials and books. We’ve also had some great industry speakers come in to prepare us for when we leave university.
I work on live projects, which helps me learn through real-life practice and build a portfolio by taking on briefs for an external client. I’m making industry connections that will set me up for the future – I’ve already been introduced to a big-time London-based TV producer.

The lecturers help us understand theory using stories from their experience and keep us up to date with new research. The university has invested so much for midwifery facilities and we’re able to learn using AI dolls and simulation in the Hatchcroft labs.
I’m prepared to apply what I’ve learnt in class to hospital straightaway – I feel ready to do things you wouldn’t expect me to be able to do in the early stages of training. I’ve already helped deliver four babies!
