have a beautiful summer.. Exfoliate, exfoliate!

Don’t underestimate the heat: Nothing really beats the feel-good factor of sunshine. But if there’s a heatwave, you are at risk of developing heat exhaustion or sunstroke. Signs to watch for are tiredness, dizziness, nausea, cramps, sweating, thirst, a fast pulse, a headache and dark urine. This is simply caused by the body losing too much water and salt through sweat. Heatstroke happens when the body can no longer cool itself, it can put a strain on your organs, more serious cases may even lead to unconsciousness, confusion and fits. To help you keep cool, drink as much water as possible, eat water- rich foods such as cucumber (96%), tomatoes (94%) and watermelon (92%). Stay in the shade from 11am-3pm and don’t over exert yourself when it’s hot. If someone you are with shows signs of heat exhaustion, get them to lie in a cool place, take off layers, use a wet cloth or ice packs to cool skin and make sure they drink plenty of water. They should start to recover within 30 minutes. If they don’t seek medical attention.

Don’t become a mosquito buffet: Scrub up - Mosquitoes find the smell of sweat and lactic acid irresistible, so at night, exfoliate (including your feet) with a loofah, to reach odours deep in your pores, and un- perfumed soap. Think about your wardrobe - They are attracted to heat, so avoid dark clothes, which absorb heat. Stick to clothing that is floaty. Blow them away - Have a fan at your BBQ to literally blow away the mozzies and the smell of your exhaled carbon dioxide, which they can also be attracted to. Spritz - Still getting bitten? Spray exposed skin with mosquito repellent. If you are going abroad in the future, there may be a risk of malaria so make

sure you take adequate protection. Flip-flops rubbing?: If you are planning on a bit of sightseeing, flip- flops aren’t really made for walking. Don’t wear too flat a shoe, the heel should be between 3/4in and 1.5in high, as well as wide and stable. Ensure that whatever holds your foot in place (strap, lace etc.) is secure. Swimming pool earache: Pack Swimseal Ear Drops. They coat the ear canal to help stop water getting trapped and leading to an infection.
