Ultimate backdrop for vintage and

near Picture Butte. Many historic items are on display at the facil- ity, including restored tractors, engines and the like. The location has also been chosen as the ul- timate backdrop for vintage and nostalgic car shows. In the summer of 2020, accord-
S
ing to Keith Strong, most of the local tourist attraction’s major events were cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions and regula- tions. “But, we were able to have a
limited car show, a barbecue cook-off in July and a tractor pull in September. The museum was opened for guided and self-guid- ed tours seven days a week and for limited-sized weddings, birth- days and anniversaries,” Strong pointed out. While the museum has had
limited visitors during the pandemic, volunteers and inde- pendent contractors managed to complete a number of tasks, according to Strong. “The John Mehalko Antique
Auto Storage Building project was started in June of 2020 and was completed by our contractor
in January of 2021,” Strong noted. With the aid of contractors and
donated materials, Strong added, a wood shop was constructed under the lean-to of the main shop. “The work was completed in stages to allow for COVID-19 compliance. Much of the work was a one-person item such as equipment maintenance, restoration and building repairs — and was carried out in that manner.” The museum’s 2021 event schedule is posted at coyoteflats. org. “We are in the midst of up- dating that site with new photos and an app to schedule special occasion rentals. Of course, all of this is subject to quarantine restrictions,” Strong said.
