In Grade 4 you worked with up to 4-digit whole numbers, which means all numbers to the left of point B on number line AB.

When you work with 5-digit whole numbers, you work with all numbers to the left of M, which is ten times more numbers than on line AB.
Let’s do an example
We can find the following numbers on the number line: 15 000 lies between B and C; 32 500 lies between D and E; 65 730 lies between G and H; 96 857 lies between L and M
We can write these numbers in words: 15 000: fifteen thousand
32 500: thirty-two thousand five hundred 65 730: sixty-five thousand seven hundred and thirty 96 857: ninety-six thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven
