Thailand reduces quarantine for yachts
Asia Pacific Superyachts has commented on the Thai Government’s efforts to boost tourism by reducing the period of quarantine for visitors. Quarantine reductions began when the Thai cabinet approved a progress plan at the start of April, with quarantine for visitors cut from 14 days to ten days for all arrivals, with the exception of visitors from some African countries. Gordon Fernandes and Tanyuta ‘Jojo’ Singhmanee, co-owners of Asia Pacific Superyachts, said this was further good news following earlier announcements that owners and crew of superyachts can quarantine on board and foreign-flagged superyachts will soon be able to charter in the country without a prohibitive tax.

Owners can now book for a week, a month or longer and enjoy the freedom and flexibility of using their designated days whenever they wish throughout the season.
This exclusive offer is available from 1 May-31 October and is valid for all yachts above 30 metres. Bespoke packages are also available upon request.
Returning boats helped to avoid post-BREXIT tax penalties
Global marine transport and logistics provider Peters & May has reported a surge in enquiries from yachtsmen and women seeking advice and assistance about bringing boats back to the UK in time to avoid tax levies following the country’s departure from the European Union. It is well-placed to help with the complex customs paperwork and has introduced more frequent sailings between some of the more popular Mediterranean and Northern European routes due to the extra demand. The rules state that UK VAT-paid yachts must return to the UK within three years of having left the UK or EU and not have changed ownership in the meanwhile to qualify for Returned Goods Relief on VAT. The final deadline for yachts to return if they departed more than three years ago is 31 December, 2021.
