BEAUTY & WELL-BEING
it’s OK not to be OK
Do you feel anxious, worry about the past or future or just live with a lot of negative thinking? It’s not so difficult
to feel like that at the moment. These difficult times can bring up a lot of things for us – we can also start to question a lot of
areas in our lives. Liz Doyle is a Positive Change Coach helping people love themselves – truly love themselves,
giving them more positive and exciting expectations for the future and with a deeper sense of self-worth.
Liz shares with us 5 ways that you can love yourself, even when life gets messy, and it can!
Forgive Yourself It’s so easy to give ourselves a hard time when things don’t go well. Do you dwell on the past and regret some of the things you did, even if it was yesterday? Let it go. You did the best you could at the time with the understanding, awareness & knowledge that you had. We can choose to think and act differently going forward but we, first, need to forgive ourselves for what has already gone. So, I’m going to ask you to close your eyes, and think of one thing from your past that you need to forgive yourself for. If it’s too difficult, just say to yourself that you are willing to forgive yourself.
Connect with Someone Reach out to friends and loved ones and allow them to help you. It is being strong to ask for help when you need it. Do you like to think that you’re there for your friends? Do you ask your friends for help? If not, you are denying them a great opportunity to help you. It’s quite easy, when life gets challenging, like right now, to connect less with others. We might think, why should I bother people with my problems? Connecting with someone is more important than ever, as we can all feel very isolated and alone in these very difficult times. Make today the day, you call or even text a friend and feel that support and then you can also offer your support. It is such an enriching experience.

Meditate For some this might seem a strange one. You don’t have to be spiritual to meditate. It’s just a chance to quieten our very busy minds that are often over-thinking and filling us with thoughts that do not serve us at all. Meditating for as little as 5 minutes a day, can be a huge benefit on our mental wellbeing and our productivity. There are plenty of guided meditations on Youtube but if you get in contact, I would be happy to send out one of mine.
Connect to your Inner Child Inner child work is involved in my coaching but not only can we help our younger self (which is still in there) feel less afraid of the world around us, but we can connect with him or her by just having fun! Remember the things that gave you joy as a child. Incorporate them into your life now. Find a way to have fun with everything you do. Let yourself express the joy of living. Smile. Laugh – having fun is seriously good for you!
It’s OK not to be OK With all of that said, sometimes we just need to allow those horrible feelings to flow. Pretending to feel OK all the time is just exhausting, allow yourself to be fearful, angry or whatever is coming up for you. One thing I’d recommend is, you can have those bad feelings come to visit but don’t let them move in. If you are truly struggling, though, please talk to your GP.
