Trimline Provides COVID-Safe Catering Areas for P&O Ferries

In January, interior outfitters Trimline travelled to Damen Shipyard in Rotterdam to install COVID-safe catering areas onboard P&O Ferries Spirit of Britain whilst in dry dock.

Spirit of Britain is the first of two 'Spirit' class ships built for P&O Ferries which are the largest ferries constructed for the cross-channel route.

During the 3-week refit, Trimline’s team of experienced joiners, catering specialists, floor layers and labourers replaced all hot and cold serveries in the Club Lounge and Food Market with convenient self-service and ‘Grab & Go’ areas.

Resourceful Team Shared Tools Working in Rotterdam in January presented many challenges caused by Brexit. The team called on their many years of experience to come up with resourceful solutions, even including implementing a rota for sharing tools, after a container was delayed by customs.

Senior Project Manager, Naomi Cooper told us “The extraordinary comradery of the team kept everyone spirits high during the refit. Everyone supported each other to deliver an outstanding project on time and to budget.”

COVID-Safe Working In order to ensure maximum COVID- safe working, the team’s temperature was taken twice per shift and facemasks were worn throughout.

Project Manager, Antonio Pezzella said “Working COVID-safe seems normal to us now. We work to strict processes and procedure to ensure everyone is kept safe during projects.”

Summing up, Commercial Manager Simon Dawkins said “This was Trimline’s first time working with P&O Ferries and we were delighted with the final finish of the project. The new catering areas look very impressive and up-to-date and we
