TRUCKSTOP KEEPS ON TRUCKING

A truckstop known as the destination for drivers, not by chance but by choice, has continued providing its valued services during lockdown. The Red Lion TruckStop has

looked after customers for over 30 years and provides facilities for all motorists from car drivers to drivers of the largest Articulated Lorries. It includes a 24-hour restaurant,

comprehensive bar, self-service laundry, attended toilet and shower facilities. During lockdown, restaurants have once again been forced to close but The Red Lion TruckStop has remained open with no changes to its hours or facilities with the exception that all meals are takeaway in line with Government guidelines. The site, which is close to the M1’s

junction 16, can accommodate 200- plus HGVs per night. It accepts Key fuel, UK Fuel,

Morgan and AS24 cards, and drivers receive added value when they apply for a Certas Energy Fuel card. Diesel, Adblue and Gasoil can all be purchased under one account.

Anyone interested in opening an account should email info@redliontruckstop.com

NO NEED TO GET BOARD BY BREXIT

PALLITE®, an award-winning international designer and manufacturer of paper board products, including pallets and shipping crates, has supported exporters to navigate the change in legislation for wooden export packaging. Before the UK left the EU on 1

January, EU member states weren’t required to use heat-treated wooden packaging, primarily wooden pallets and shipping crates, for the movement of goods between themselves, including the UK. After the UK left the EU, the law changed to state all wooden packaging moving between the EU and the UK, in either direction, must be ISPM15 compliant. ISPM15 applies to all wooden

packaging materials such as pallets and shipping crates. All solid wood

and wooden packaging materials over 6mm in thickness and used for export must be treated. In addition, wooden packaging

moving in either direction between Great Britain and Northern Ireland must now be ISPM15 compliant and any wooden packaging moving in either direction between Ireland and Great Britain via Northern Ireland. Due to this change in regulations

and the impact of the global pandemic on the heat treatment

capacity for wooden packaging, it’s believed current UK supplies of heat-treated pallets and shipping crates will not meet demand. There are several alternatives

available on the market. PALLITE®’s honeycomb board pallets are a strong alternative to wooden pallets and are exempt from ISPM15 regulations as they’re made from just paper and glue. The Northamptonshire-based business has seen a significant increase in demand for their pallets and shipping crates due to this shortage.
