National Apprenticeship Week 2021 theme is announced
National Apprenticeship Week 2021 will provide an opportunity for employers to highlight the long-term benefits of apprenticeships to both themselves and the apprentices who are the future of the industry
National Apprenticeship Week 2021 (NAW2021) will take place from 8 to 14 February. ‘Build the Future’ is the theme for NAW2021, which aims to encourage everyone to consider how apprenticeships help individuals to build the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career.
The 14th annual week-long celebration of
apprenticeships, taking place across England, will showcase the impact apprenticeships can have on local businesses and communities. NAW2021 provides an opportunity for employers of all sizes to show how they have stepped up to the challenge during this unprecedented time and are encouraged to celebrate apprenticeships and how they:
20
TRAIN apprentices, and future-proof their workforce and careers through apprenticeships; RETAIN apprentices, gaining the skills and knowledge needed by the business, and seeing apprentices thrive, whilst having impact; ACHIEVE a real return on investment from apprentices; realising the business benefits of apprenticeships, with apprentices progressing in their chosen careers. Carl Hobbis, BIFA executive director, said:
“Now, more than ever, we need to promote the industry and give young people employment opportunities. “We have had a specific apprenticeship
standard for International Freight Forwarding for nearly three years and the sector has been in the
news more than ever, so what a great time to encourage someone to consider a career in the sector.
“Good planning of your future talent pipeline is paramount, so get the week pencilled in your calendar and get out there within your local community and promote the industry and your business.”
Some ideas you could do or get involved with
are: • Offer work experience • Work with a local school or college • Stage an event • Make a video or write a blog • Utilise your social media channels • Job swap for the day with an existing apprentice.
A toolkit is available now to support the
apprenticeship community with planning their activity for National Apprenticeship Week 2021.
