Entrepreneur: Sinmi Adeoye-Esene
I
dea: Daniola Corporation, Using Blockchain technology to build a consensus and trust around
responsible production standards for miners. Providing traceability and increased market share with connections to higher value international customers. The need: There are many sectors
going through advancements in technology, but the mining industry stood out to Sinmi Adeoye-Esene and Daniola Corporation. The Nigerian-Canadian Entrepreneur along with her husband Clement Esene are working hard and using blockchain technology to improve the mining supply chain. Their application provides valuable provenance to decerning customers requiring data from the mines where minerals and metals are extracted, all the way to the end buyer looking for guarantees that they are receiving what they were promised. Daniola Corporation, through using evolutions in blockchain, allowed for all involved to gain peace of mind through traceability in the extraction and transaction process. Technology: Unleashing the power of
blockchain is becoming more widely accepted when dealing with supply chain and its extensions. Being able to track a product from start to finish and verify it was sourced ethically and fairly is becoming as important now as the general cost of doing business. Daniola Corporation also use smart contracts to minimize touch points along the way. Cutting out the middleman allows for a streamlined process and eventually creates an optimal price advantage to those involved. Validation: Much like the Agriculture
industry, the need to know as much as possible about a product from origin to consumer is no different in the mining sector. The validation of the idea has spanned different sectors in the recent years. Now with the investment and resources of companies like Daniola Corporation, blockchain technology – as a means of tracing and cost effectiveness
– is more widespread and increasingly becoming more accepted globally as a means of doing business. Partnership: After migrating to
Canada initially from Nigeria, Sinmi and her husband made the decision to move south from Calgary to Lethbridge in 2019. The move was made easier by the support and work being done by entrepreneurs in Southern Alberta. Becoming part of that ecosystem was made even easier by Tecconnect Business Advisors. Staff of Tecconnect and RINSA partner organizations have helped Daniola Corporation by identifying opportunities and assisting them in these pursuits. Daniola Corporation has engaged with many different components of support both as part of the Tecconnect Entrepreneur Program as well as being an incubating business with office space at the Tecconnect facility. Becoming the first woman entrepreneur to move her business inside of Tecconnect allowed Sinmi to take advantage of a close working relationship with the Business Advisors in the building. Sinmi also credits Tecconnect and management for making their move into the centre for entrepreneurship and innovation even more accessible, as they added to their family with a newborn in 2019. Sinmi, and Daniola Corporation, are well- positioned to be a strong mentor for other women entrepreneurs in Southern Alberta. With Western Economic Diversification as a funding partner for the Women Entrepreneurs in STEM program, there are many learning opportunities readily available to quite literally anyone interested by way of virtual technology. Daniola Corporation both participates and advocates for these STEM based programs for women in various ways. By utilizing these opportunities as a learning mechanism, Daniola Corporation continues to enjoy expanding their network and marketing their successes to those in earlier stages of their entrepreneurial journey.
