One of Cardiff’s newest Estate Agents Te Gray House has opened its office in North Cardiff and has already scooped the prestigious gold award in the British Property Awards for her category . We spoke to owner/director Michelle Barber just aſter she won the award.
Can you tell us more about the British Property Awards? Te British Property Awards were created by a group of estate agents motivated to improve the reputation of agents aſter a study found just 25% of people trusted their local property agent due to shortcomings of others in the industry. I believe passionately in honesty, integrity and professionalism and these three principals are an indication of how Te Gray House won their first award in just 8 weeks.
How are agents assessed? Since 2018, agents have been independently assessed over several months on a town by town basis against 25 comprehensive key points to ensure a balanced assessment of continuity, stability and a commitment to excellence. Te awards commend and recognise agents for providing a first class service and that rare determination, to go the extra mile for their valued clients.
How did they contact you? Te British Property Awards contacted us in August 2020 congratulating us for being shortlisted in the Best Letting Agent category for Cardiff North. I had no idea we had even been assessed – it’s a bit like being secretly shopped! Unbeknown to us, what followed was a number of enquiries cleverly designed and disguised as landlords and applicants to test our knowledge, professionalism and assess our expertise how we engaged and reassured the enquirer through our depth of experience and understanding of the property industry. Around 6 weeks later I received the call….Te British Property Awards announcing that aſter full independent assessment and evaluation, Te Gray House has won the award for Best Letting Agent in Cardiff (North) 2020-21. Receiving the news made me feel so incredibly proud of such enormous success in an incredibly short space of time. What made you “take the big step” and open Te Gray House? Having my own agency has always been my biggest career ambition. I have worked in property since 2005 and I genuinely and passionately love my job. Like many people who are brave enough to go it alone and start their first business venture, I am incredibly driven, motivated and have a strong wish to succeed in life. Every time I arrive at my office I smile with such enormous pride and seeing how my years of hard work and commitment have paved my journey to this point and the achievements I now hold. We started completely from scratch in terms of a client base and managed properties and in less than 6 months we now manage over 50 properties including residential and commercial and also serviced apartments
What does Te Gray House do differently? I wanted Te Gray House to stand for more than just being ‘another estate agent’. Agents are trusted with their client’s valuable investments which is a huge responsibility and should be administered meticulously with due diligence, care and respect. Agents are depended and relied upon by their clients to act with honesty, integrity and professionalism – which is why I hold these three principals at the very heart of my work ethic, my business approach and these are the driving factors behind the early success of Te Gray House.
