THE BEL FRY HOTEL & RESORT IT ’S ALL ABOUT YOU

For many of us there hasn’t been much to celebrate this year with many events cancelled and being isolated from friends and family so perhaps it’s time to give yourself a little treat.

around in various locations, setting my mind at rest about my personal safety.

My first activity was a pre-booked swim in The Belfry’s indoor swimming pool. Staff explained all swims are now pre-booked to control capacity so while this is perhaps not as flexible as a normal spa day it makes absolute sense and perfect for those still a little nervous about mingling with others.

The Belfry Hotel & Resort has launched a new spa day package ideal for anyone looking for a bit of me time and to recharge their batteries now that the children have gone back to school. Their All About You package is available until November 30 from just £59 per person. Tina Thomas-Bassett went along to enjoy a little pampering.

The package includes a 45-minute spa treatment and guests can choose from a bespoke facial, deep cleansing back treatment, muscle reviver or classic manicure or pedicure.

After a rejuvenating treatment, guests can make use of the swimming pool in The Leisure Club which also offers a gym, classes and a state-of-the-art spin studio, followed by afternoon tea in Rocca’s, where guests can relax and enjoy sandwiches, cakes and pastries made from only the highest quality, fresh and locally sourced ingredients. There’s also a chance to drift and doze in the relaxation room, phones off and no-one demanding your attention for a blissful hour of uninterrupted peace and quiet.

I arrived at The Belfry Hotel & Resort on a dreary Monday morning after the school run and a day at a spa could not have been more welcome to lift the spirits.

The approach to the Belfry is stunning, nestled as it is in over 500 acres of idyllic countryside, yet still just 20 minutes from Birmingham city centre.

On arrival at the spa desk the new safety measures included wearing a mask, completing a Covid-19 health check form and having my temperature taken. Distancing measures and one way systems operate in appropriate areas, including the pool and spa reception and there is hand sanitiser on arrival and dotted

After my swim I made my way, in my luxurious Belfry robe, to Rocca’s restaurant for my afternoon tea with a glass of Prosecco – not my usual Monday lunchtime tipple but a lovely change. My friendly waiter served me a mouth-watering selection of finger sandwiches, homemade malt loaf and home-baked scones, accompanied by tea breads and sweet pastries and of course English breakfast tea. I was rather glad I’d already had my swim. The portions are generous and so delicious I didn’t want to leave a morsel.

After my delightful afternoon tea my next activity was my 60 minute Inner Beauty Facial which was so relaxing that I did actually fall asleep. My facial included a consultation using the SkinVision lamp (a rather unnerving experience – it reminded me of sitting tests at school, desperate for my skin to pass muster) followed by a triple cleanse, exfoliation, personalised facial mask, scalp massage and finished with an application of a booster serum. The spa uses Espa products, rich in plant and marine extracts, all selected to tailor to each person’s individual needs. They certainly felt luxurious and left my skin feeling ready to face the rigours of the winter weather on its way.

At the end of my mini treat I felt completely refreshed and relaxed.
