I hope you have all been well during these unprecedented and often uncertain times, and have managed to adjust to a different way of life. I know that for many parents, balancing work life alongside the pressures of entertaining children can often have its challenges.
Firstly, we wanted to thank not only you as parents, but also your children for adapting to these changes so well. Trying to stay focused and find motivation whilst having parents busy at work, is not easy. We are so pleased that the opportunity to return to school has finally come around, and I know, as a parent myself, that a chance for my children to be reunited with their friends, will be very welcomed. I certainly have an enhanced respect for teachers and the great job they do and have continued to do throughout this pandemic.
We have been overwhelmed with the response to our sunflower campaign and our days have been continually brightened by the lovely drawings, paintings and collages that you have all sent, and that we have seen outside your houses. We hope you liked the seeds we sent you as a result, and that your sunflowers are growing well!
Our department has been very busy during lockdown. Some of our Safer Schools Partnership Officers were recalled to the frontline and the control room. Those of us in the engagement team worked on various things including ideas and videos for our Safer Schools lockdown newsletter, you may have seen them. We were also working on new resources for schools and our Crucial Crew project which went online temporarily.
