revious ‘visits’ published in Marina Industry have all tended to feature well- established facilities, but in
what is undoubtedly a difficult year for the leisure boating market, it is good to carry a report about a marina opened only a few months ago on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. The long-held vision of Cypriot Jerry
Caramondanis, in partnership with Naguib Sawiris, a prominent investor from Egypt, has become a reality with the opening of a 600-berth marina and the arrival of the first boats in June, this year. Ayia Napa Marina is approximately 30 minutes East of Larnaca International Airport and 50 minutes from Limassol. The marina is located on the South-East coast of the island near the resort town of Ayia Napa, a world-famous holiday destination known for its unique location, crystal clear seas and blue flag-awarded beaches. The marina, built by Bellingham Marine, features full-service pontoons and finger piers that provide greater access and ease of

mooring for boats up to 30 m as well as full-service berthing options for boats up to 85 m. “This iconic marina will become the standard that other marinas in the Mediterranean aspire to meet,” said John Spragg, Bellingham Marine’s President of Australasia and the Middle
East, “Once boaters use the finger mooring system, they will demand it elsewhere.” Ayia Napa Marina is equipped with abundant power and water to support its residents and guests, including ample floating fuel facilities fitted with high-
speed diesel dispensers. There are reticulated sewer pump-outs to several berths and more than adequate pump-out connections throughout the marina. Tom Spragg, Bellingham Marine’s project manager, remarked, “While the project had its challenges, including
