Foam firm sets its sights on face visors for NHS

oam packaging experts GWP Protective have won a contract to assist in the manufacture of face
visors for the NHS. The Salisbury firm is teaming up with one of its customers to supply 5.5 million visors over 26 weeks. The company, formerly known as Eastman Packaging before a rebrand, has already supplied around half a million cut foam pads and is also supplying various foam sheets. Although GWP typically produces
foam inserts for protective packaging products, this isn’t the first time they have been involved in the manufacture of

face visors for health care workers. Back in April, at the height of the outbreak, they worked with Gloucester based engineering business Orthotropic to produce and then donate more than 500 visors to local health care workers. Managing Director Ruth Cook
said: “We’d already had experience of producing visors so knew straight away our expertise and manufacturing capability would be perfect for producing the foam parts. “We’ve had the opportunity to assist in a number of areas that we wouldn’t normally be involved with during the pandemicw. We are proud that we have been able to play a small part in the fight against the virus.” GWP Group employs more than 100
people across their two sites in Wiltshire, manufacturing a wide range of packaging products. They are celebrating a landmark thirty years in business next month, having begun trading in August 1990. Some extra text here please. n

BUSINESS TAKES OFF AS RESTRICTIONS COME DOWN

usiness travellers took to the skies in numbers aſter the Government loosened travel restrictions in July,
early indications suggest. Data from a number of Travel Management Companies revealed that 85 per cent booked flights in the week of June 29 – July 3. Marine/offshore and energy was the sector travelling the most, with a 23 per cent booking rate. This was followed closely by construction and engineering. While Heathrow was the most commonly booked destination as a hub for regional airports; Western Europe topped the list of final destinations and Aberdeen-London was the most frequently booked route.
