then announced not only in first place, but the “Stand Out Winner”! I leapt to my feet and flung my arms round Sparky's neck and burst into tears. Meanwhile, he patiently nudged me for the polos which he knew I would have in my pocket for him! The comments from the judge finally sunk in – what a pleasure to be told the picture was “a lovely motion shot with precision and fluidity, both horse and rider moving forward, well-balanced and showing good length of stride. Overall, very pleasing to the eye”


It seemed only reasonable to celebrate at lunchtime with a bottle of bubbly, and later on in the day with a glass of Pimm’s (in keeping with true Royal Windsor style). It was a much more leisurely aſternoon than we would have had, had we have been at the show itself. The messages of congratulations came flooding in via social media, everyone seemed to have been watching this highly anticipated class, even more so as it combined both the PRE (Spanish) and Lusitano (Portuguese) horses together for the first time.


On Sunday I sat down to watch the Supreme Championship, expectation free but to see which lovely horse would take the top spot. We were shocked when we were placed in the Final 12; out of over 4500 entries Sparky and I had made the top 12! The final cherry on the cake was to receive our own little write up in Horse & Hound – a sure first for me.


The last few months certainly have been a whirlwind. Whilst we all know there have been bigger things at play when it comes to the global pandemic, each of us have had to deal with our own setbacks, however big or small. During this time, I have truly understood the difference our mindset can have on our outlook on life and thanks to Jenni, I have been able to pivot mine and experience results I could only have dreamed of previously.


   


       


 



