was back to old wonderful fearless Violet. She came in the top 3 in all 4 classes (in hand).
This made me think I just wanted to move back to the Forest where we were both so happy. I called up my old boss and begged ha ha. That week we moved back, but my passion for showing and telling Violets story had grown. I tracked down her breeder, who hadn't seen her for a very long time. He had her passport and all her paperwork. I never really asked what had happened; all I know is that she was sold at two for fiſty pounds.
He kindly signed her over to me; turns out she’s 10 this year, so I broke her in at 8 years old.
Life is always challenging with Violet, just like any other horse. I'm still the only person who can ride her and the only person who can tack her up, but she’s getting better every day.
We made it! Not only did we do the in hand but also I was brave and took part in the ridden, She was a star! My nerves kicked but she carried me the whole

way! No more ‘Appy Nappy’ comments, just all great ones. My whole family came to watch. I will never forget that feeling when I asked her into canter all on her own down the long side of the arena. The feeling was unreal, and I couldn't help but burst into tears and lose my way slightly. To think eighteen months ago, she was just wandering around, no purpose, no owner, absolutely nothing, and here she is cantering around Royal Windsor Horse Show!
Shortly aſter, we competed at a local show and gained our first win! The excitement was just unreal, at this point I really believed we could do this!
On the 18th August, we competed and took part at the Appaloosa Nation show at Hartpury College. She was an absolute star! What a fabulous day it was, two thirds and two fiſths in big strong classes. As If that wasn’t enough, as I was packing up to go home, I was presented this huge beautiful rosette by the British Appaloosa Society Chairman for most Improved Ridden Combination. I was so over- whelmed, I burst into tears.
