SEMLEP OFFERS CAREER ADVICE

When you were younger, did you picture the career you have now? The world of work can be daunting and confusing for young people, which is why SEMLEP, in partnership with the Careers and Enterprise Company work with local schools and colleges to support with the delivery of careers information and guidance. Working with over 120 schools in the South East Midlands, SEMLEP’s

Enterprise Coordinators support senior leadership teams to inspire students about their careers. The programme aims to help young people reach their potential and develop the relevant skills and knowledge ready for the world of work. To share first-hand insight with students, SEMLEP has created the

Enterprise Adviser Network. What is an Enterprise Adviser? A business- professional who wants to make a difference and support young people to make informed career decisions, who volunteers to work with the school. By sharing their first-hand knowledge of the working world, the EA’s

work alongside the schools to embed careers into the curriculum, create insightful events and connect the school to other local businesses and more. Richard Osbourne and Kevin Rogers have volunteered as EA’s since 2015. Kevin Rogers, partner at Wilson Browne and board president of the

Chamber, said: “I have seen first-hand how much impact one person can make in terms of both supporting the school at senior level with decisions and business insight, but also with helping to fill the gaps in the student experience. “When I realised that I could ask my network of businesses large and

small to step in and help with vital employer engagement and interactions it was an obvious, simple thing to do that has had a profound impact.”

POSTWORKS TAKES ITS SERVICE ONLINE

Following a significant growth in business and investment in new equipment, online mailing company Postworks has moved to larger premises, doubling production capacity. Postworks is an online franking

company providing businesses with an online cloud-based alternative to franked postage. Moving to the new site has

caused no disruptions to the service for customers, and throughout the transition security and customer experience has been fully maintained. James Booker, Postworks CEO,

said: “Perhaps growth during this crisis can be seen as bittersweet, but it's reassuring to us that we are supporting thousands of organisations during such turbulent times.

CEO James Brooker “It isn’t really feasible for

employees working from home to take the franking machine and printer from the office during the lockdown. “Our team has gone the extra

yard at helping small businesses, the NHS, and even whole councils switch over to online franking. That's testament to the dedicated team that is Postworks.”
