BUSINESS REPORT

LAUNCH OF FOOD AND DRINK AWARDS

ONLINE CAREER WORKSHOPS ARE ON OFFER

Coronavirus has sent the world in to a spin and careers support has become even more important - supporting students feeling lost, assisting those furloughed or redundant and advising business on how to balance employee payroll, cash flow, and work requirements. In response to this

heightened need for support, CWR Digital has been established, enabling CWR Consultancy to continue their full program of workshops and seminars, all delivered online. Every Tuesday morning for

the past eight weeks, CWR have been running interactive workshops open to all ages and stages, focussed on soft employability skills, soul searching, confidence building and practical support around CVs, interviews and applications. This is an accredited program that all the participants will receive a certificate for and even better it will provide a great answer to the new interview question – “what did you do during the Covid-19 lockdown?” The team have also hosted

a business Q&A session every other Thursday as an opportunity to share innovative ideas, updates on what is happening in the county, understand the latest funding grants available, get to grips with furloughing as it continues to develop and have the support of other local businesses, encouraging businesses to work through this process together. Northamptonshire is

recognised for its innovation and vast number of SME and micro businesses and in many ways, this time has afforded many people the opportunity to be innovative and concentrate on projects they have wanted to do for years; in the case of CWR, this has resulted in CWR Digital.

The Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards have played a huge role in promoting and celebrating the culinary sector over the last 11 years and this year, with breakfast icon Weetabix as headline sponsor, there has arguably never been a greater need for the boost that success can bring. Which is why, after spending the

last four months acting as both a business support hub and a platform praising those working so innovatively and diligently during

the crisis, the competition is now underway for 2020/21, with not only its usual hard-fought categories for pubs and restaurants, chefs and producers, but also a new title, reflecting Weetabix’s own key commitment to sustainability. Awards Director Rachel Mallows

‘I WOULD

MBE DL is urging all those in the sector to enter and says that the competition can play a crucial role in their reinvigoration. “So many

businesses have ENCOURAGE

FOOD AND DRINK BUSINESSES TO GET INVOLVED’

shown incredible resilience over recent months and, perhaps more than in any other year, we’re thrilled to be shining the spotlight on those who are overcoming the toughest of challenges and excelling in their field,” explained Rachel. “So, with help and support

available to make entering simpler than ever, I would encourage food and drink businesses to get involved and potentially take advantage of the wealth of benefits that come with achieving glory in these prestigious awards.” For full details of the free-to-

enter 2020/21 competition, to download category entry forms – including that of the new ‘Weetabix Sustainability Award’ - or to recommend your favourite producer, chef, pub or restaurant – please visit www.northamptonshirefoodanddrin k.co.uk, email rachel@themallowscompany.com or call 01933 664437.

SOFTWARE FOR ACCOUNTANTS

Accountancy practices represent a significant proportion of the customers using Blisworth-based INVU’s Electronic Document Management software. The software helps businesses work digitally by

efficiently processing and storing documents, knowing what documents and versions you have and who has access to them, and easy search and retrieval of data from documents. For accountancy firms, securely storing documents is

critical as they not only need to be compliant with legislation but able to retrieve correspondence and formal documents quickly and efficiently, such as a tax return. Within the INVU system, paper correspondence is scanned to a digital record, and emails, attachments and documents created in other systems like practice management software or the Microsoft Office Suite can be automatically stored in one place. IRIS Software Group is one of the UK’s leading

providers of practice management software. Nearly a decade ago, it chose INVU as its partner for the provision of document management software, known as IRIS Docs. Today, more than 10,000 people working in accountancy practices across the UK use IRIS Docs.

At CED Accountancy Services, a Northants Chamber

member based in Towcester, every staff member uses IRIS Docs on a daily basis. Jaime Corbett said: “It’s very simple and easy to use, and it’s really good for saving emails and looking back at documents.”
